Here's a Take II, in Latina, for the group's consideration =)

English and Latin are the only two languages I know how to read and pronounce and the Latin is a little rusty so... so

much for the thread rules. Sry.

Nevertheless, more experiments with the microphone and recording software resulted in a little brush-up on the Latin pronunciation skills. Getting the pronunication down, out loud, was tougher than I thought it would be. I'm not an orator by any means, either, so someone please let me know if it sounds too monotonous. I tried to add emphasis where it should be but I may have fell short of the mark. Some pronunciations could be wrong as well but I think I still remember most of it.* I don't remember if the "c" takes an "ess" sound in some places or if it should always take the hard "k" sound, or if the "t" should take a "shh" sound in other places. Maybe someone in the know can help me out in the rough spots?

It is not monoton. But i never heard Latin with an English accent before. I only heard it with a French accent, a an italian, and a German accent when we had some Italian or Germans penfriends with the school (the school had a partnership with 2 schools, one in Germany, and one in Italy), and we visited them, and there we worked on some Latin texts.
I guess I could find a Latin text and let you see latin with a French accent later :lol:

Dave: Ita? I didn't know you took Latin. I think it was taught in most public hs back in the day but its popularity declined for a while. Most students at my school opted for the usual - Spanish, German, or French - but some of us nerds and oddball outcasts thought Latin would suit us just fine, and it did. Our teacher was awesome and some of us came back for 3-4 more years.

Judith: Accent or not, I would love to hear you recite something. By all means please do.

Marek: Hmm, I didn't think the Yank accent thing would have been such a major point of concern but I suppose I should consider the source.

I had years of Latin in my life. The first 12 years of my education were in private Catholic schools(it's a wonder I'm not fucked up more than I am after that) in early grade school I became a server/alter boy which is someone who assist the priest during the celebration of a Mass. That was when the Masses were in Latin and the server had to know his responses to the priest in Latin. "mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa". To tell You the truth I learned my parts, 'parrot fashion'. When I arrived in HS (9th grade) we were required to take a year of Latin classes. I did not transfer much of it from my short term to long term memory -

Ah, a product of a parochial system, eh? I see. The Latin can be useful. In my case I think it helped me land a job (I think). Don't know why I've committed some of it to long-term memory, though, but I'm glad I did!

The vocals remind me a little of Gossow growls, mostly in the chorus.

Last time I tried to record something with my microphone, the level was not loud enough and then I had to put the speakers on really loud to actually hear anything. Let me figure out how to make that better, and I will read a latin text.

I wanted to read a part of that, but my microphone is really crappy, i nearly have to "eat" it to be able to hear something i record. The sound quality is bad and you have to put the volume really loud to hear something. i guess I will do it when I can steal my brother´s microphone

I say we continue this, but make it more funny. A.K.A., this is now the Voice Thread 3.0 - Karaoke Style

Pick a song (I guess DT would make sense) and have the next person in line sing part of it as best (or worst) they can.

I may or may not volunteer for first - I have to check my mic when I get home.
