I thought I would do something a bit different and dedicate a specific thread to each band and sticky it for a bit. This will give those that are unfamilar with the band a chance to read other's thoughts, ask questions, etc. instead of digging through a huge amount of threads at the moment.

Definitely a bit quirky, very catchy music-- I picked up both albums this past week and prefer the earlier album a bit more, but both albums have excellent, punchy production.

Gotta love the mixture of Elvis/Fallon/Ness in the singer's style as well...

Probably the band I'm most curious about at next year's festival.

I will hopefully be down front with you Glenn, as this is the band I am most pleased about being at PPUSA and I can't wait to hear them and see them live. And you were so right their first CD is awesome and I do like it a tab bit more than the new one. With that said, this is going to be the band that everyone says, "Man WTF just happened?", and will humming their songs all weekend.

Very oddball. I wouldn't expect metalized Stray Cats to be my thing, yet I find myself liking their stuff. Quite strange.

There's a good chance I wouldn't have ever come across this band if not for them being on next year's roster. My initial reaction still holds, Volbeat are one of a couple bands(so far)that I really am interested in seeing next year. I think a band like this is a much more intriguing oddball than some past bands that got that label. I hope this trend would continue, with bands such as Volbeat, The Carburetors, and the like getting a shot as the "oddball band". Bands like these are infinitely more interesting to me than the latest prog metal/power metal by numbers band du jour.

If anyone hasn't heard it yet, I love Volbeat's cover of Dusty Springfield's 'I Only Want To Be With You'.

When the announcement vid was playing, my first response is "who?"...then I saw some descriptions about "hillbilly metal" and I thought, "WTF?"...

Since PP8, I've been trying to get into these guys based on samples found around the net. I have a feeling that these guys are going to slam-bang through their set and pound us senseless with their groove, but their vocal melodies take all the fun out of their music for me...I just don't get it. Looking forward to their live set, but I don't think I'm jumping on the bandwagon just yet.

Worries me though, cuz that's the same way I felt about Freak Kitchen. Their albums did not impress me at all. Then I saw their live set at PP7, and I thought, "OK...I get it now!" One year later, I'm a proud owner of the entire FK catalog and a big fan of all things IA.

Maybe that's what it'll take with Volbeat...cuz right now I just ain't getting it...

Rock on!

I've tried a few songs, and I just can't get into these guys at all. Something about the vocals just grate on me the wrong way. Suppose I'll give them a song or two to try and prove me wrong, but my initial impression is "dinner break"...
