Volbeat Discussion

obviously im missing something about this band.

whats the best album to start off with?

I've tried a few songs, and I just can't get into these guys at all. Something about the vocals just grate on me the wrong way. Suppose I'll give them a song or two to try and prove me wrong, but my initial impression is "dinner break"...

I agree, sounds like the guy is straining himself; I couldn't bear more than 2 minutes of it before i had to stop it. Hey i tried, just not my thing i guess.

I've heard all the stuff on myspace and seen the band live and I'm still not able to get into these guys. Have I just heard the wrong stuff or is there no hope?

If the one minute introduction sample from the PP USA IX introduction video doesn't catch you (it's not on any of their websites, etc), I doubt anything ever will.

The sample on the video Saturday night completely got me interested and my interest only increases the more I hear. I'm really starting to like this band.

They make me want to daaaaaaance!!!!! I love it!

Actually, it didn't grab me at all... but I had to find them online and download a few songs to see if I'd like them. And I really do. It was the cover of I Only Wanna Be With You that got me. I didn't even realize it until the song ended and I realized I had been singing along the whole time.

Then I hit Caroline's Leaving and holy hell. I think my chair blew back about 100 feet. It's not that they are the worlds best band, but I'm just imagining them on stage next year. If they bring even 1/4 of the energy they have, we're going to be blown at least a mile out of the freaking venue.

And that to me is what it's about...

Good choice, Glenn.

I want to hear "Radio Girl, Sad Man's Tongue and Soulweeper" and then I can die a happy camper

There needs to be more music out there like these guys....I have not stopped listening to them for the last 2 weeks....Sad Man's Tounge sounds like a Johnny Cash song on speed...great stuff

Then you will have to join the group down front on the rail for their set, we are gonna get down Johnny Cash and Elvis style.
