I just wanted to hear what you people think of the sound of the latest anthrax albums.

I think it´s rather weak.
anybody agree?

the guitar has gotten down in volume and the drums are too loud.
especially on the DVD.

I think they should get Rick Rubin to produce the next studio album.

I love anthrax, just feeling a bit critical today.

On MOMD I didint care for the sound od Charlies bass drums. Unless you listen to it on a good system they sound like double bass druming on coffee cans.

Did he go to Toys R Us and get the Lars Ulrich drum kit?

Scott

Well anyways, I'm still collecting Anthrax albums. I need to collect 3 more and I have all of them so I have no idea what the DVD sounds like but from the clips on the site, it was pretty good. So was the stuff for WCFYA.

:err:
Among the Living is in serious need of remastering. Cant argue with the production on SOWN and POT. But from what I've heard (What Doesnt die, Safe Home) the guitar sound is pretty nice.

I actually thought WCFYA is the best Thrax production ever
Yep. And Music of Mass Destruction is the best live album I've ever heard.

I can't wait for the GOTE because Scrap 60 kicks ass.

Scrap 60 DOES kick ass. The only thing I think is better than MOMD is Decade of Aggression by Slayer, which is reasonable because Slayer is my favorite band, but yeah, MOMD is fucking great.

yeah ATL is still my fav, im always gonna be stuck back in the day. but WCFYA is amazing none the less, i have the luxury of a decent system i picked up cheap the drums on MOMD still sound a bit off but its bearable, otherwise its the best live album ever, hands down.

Uh-oh - it's Jinx's opinionated one-word Anthrax production run-down:

FOM - Of its time. Seems like no studio guys had really figured out how to capture the thrash sound back then.

STD - Of it's time.

ATL - Killer. Revolutionary. Surprised to hear they didn't see eye to eye with Eddie Kramer in the studio.

SOE - Disappointing after ATL. "Sounds a little stock", as Lars might say.

POT - Killer. A return to form.

SOWN - <sigh> So many cool songs killed by a grunge producer. Can't stand the production job on this one.

S442 - Killer. The guitars are back!

Vol.8 - Killer.

WCFYA - Killer. I could have done with the guitars a *bit* higher.

MOMD - Killer. Sure, the kick drum is a bit nasal, but it's still awesome.

TGOTE - Err... Killer. I have every confidence!

I agree with SpreadingTheLiving312 that Decade of Aggression is awesome, but it annoys me that Jeff's guitar is so low in the mix.

Yeah I just noticed that the other day when listening on headphones. As any Slayer fan would know, Kerry's guitar is heard in the right headphone and Jeff's is in the left. But anyways, you can hear Kerry's solos all loud and shit and when it switches to Jeff's solo (take Angel of Death for example) it's a lot quieter. Oh well, its still a mublaevilnikufesin. :D
