I had a chance to experiment with it this weekend with some old DI's but I cant seem to come close to what some people have gotten. I was wondering if you could clue me on some more in depth techniques you are using?

I really just did the bare minimum though. Loaded the DI's into reaper...

preampus maximus -> SoloC -> ReaVerb (allows you to load impulse files - just figured that out) -> maybe some ReEQ/Xcomp

My favorite chain that I've come up with so far is a little over the top, but i like it. It's not all the canadian plugins but it mostly is.

REAGate->Vintage Overdrive(TSS)->Preampus Distortus(Used as Preamp with no gain)-> SCAR->8505->Voxengo Boogex->ReaEQ

What the shit...

I haven't toyed around much with Reaper's plugins but I just checked ReaVerb out and it seems crazy nice! You can load a lot of freakin' impulses in and stuff, it seems very cool.

As for the Canadian Metal plugins, I haven't made anything yet. I'm pretty certain they will be used on my project though, which I will work with as soon as I have less work to deal with at... well, work :)

Frying up some moose shanks and trappin' fur eh!

Sorry, I had to :lol: Haven't tried any out yet, but I'm looking forward to!

yeah, I've been using reaper for a while and I never thought to try loading in impulses until this weekend. It works well too because like you said you can combine different ones. Im definitely going to try the TSS I just downloaded today before the preampus. But I was wondering if I was doing something wrong with my FX chain. Any other help is greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, I'm new here. Just discovered the place! I'm bumping this thread as it looks very interesting.

I just discovered the 8505 plug-in a few days ago. Still experimenting also with "impulses" as all of this is new for me. Sounds very very promising. :)

For me my FX chain in Reaper would look like this:

Simulanalog SD1 + 8505 + Poulin LeCab

I'm def still in the experimenting phase but I tried this last night

TSS>soloC preamp>8505>ReaVerb(for impulses - Catharsis)>ReQ/Xcomp

still haven't come up with something I'm completely sold on, but I think it has a lot to do with my guitar/pickups too.

Hey Dave, how do you set ReaVerb for impulses? I tried but it sounded weird! :goggly:

Click on the add button and then file...choose your impulse and then make sure you double click on the wet fader so it's at default and then turn the dry all the way down. At first I was like "These impulses sound horrendous" and then I relized I still had the dry all the way up lol. Oh and I usually set it so that it's mono and I dont normalize the impulse. Youll see the options
