Hide Your Heart rules!Hot In The Shade is one of the best Kiss albums ever! People who don't like the non-makeup Kiss coz of the glammy poppy sound on Asylum and Crazy Nights should give Hot In The Shade a go coz its such a great guitar driven rock & roll album.
The only bad songs are The Street Giveth, Cadillac Dreams, Boomerang and Boomerang. And Little Caesar and Betrayed are nothing special but still not bad. But then the other 10 tracks are all killers! If it was only a 10 track album like Asylum was, and those 5 songs were gone... it would be the best Kiss album ever probably.

How will history prove me wrong? Album sales? Maybe it just sold better because they decided to make an album more like Bon Jovi because Slippery When Wet was so big 
If I wanna hear pop metal I'll listen to Bon Jovi. I wanna hear raunchy hard rock from Kiss though. That's what they do best.
Don't get me wrong though, I love Crazy Nights. It's one of my fave Kiss albums too probably after those ones I listed. But it isn't their best.

I have no idea how many copies Crazy Nights sold. Can't imagine it sold many considering it's overlooked so often.
And Bon Jovi aren't, nor were they ever, metal. Poison had more grunt than Richie & Co ever did.

I know they're a rock band. But in the '80s they were regarded as pop metal. It was watered down radio friendly glam really.

But they're not metal, and never were. Sure, people back then thought that anyone with long hair and cool guitar solos were metal, and sure, Gerri Miller put anyone who wore spandex into Metal Edge, but they weren't metal.

Have you ever heard "Look What The Cat Dragged In"??? That album is HEAVY!!!!
Songs like the title track, "#1 Bad Boy", "Play Dirty" etc.. are some of the heaviest, ballsiest, nastiest glam metal songs ever! It's strange that so many metalheads bag Poison but worship early Crue because Look What The Cat Dragged In is VERY similar to Too Fast For Love in production, attitude, songs, etc. Raw, heavy, trashy LA sleaze metal.
The problem was that they released all their softer songs as singles like "Cry Tough" (great song though!) and "Talk Dirty To Me" (worst Poison song ever!) off that album.... "Your Mama Don't Dance" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" off Open Up (the 2 worst songs on the album)... "Unskinny Bop" was the big one off Flesh & Blood and the worst song on the album...
No wonder they had a bad name when it was all the stupid songs that people saw on TV. If all those '80s metalheads turned on MTV and saw Poison cranking out Look What The Cat Dragged In or #1 Bad Boy it may have been a different story.

I can't believe you'd never heard that term before. Its used more than "glam metal" is in the rock media. All the hair bands generally get called "pop metal" these days in magazines and everything but I tend to only use that for the bands like Jovi, Danger Danger, Def Leppard (Hysteria era) etc... and use glam for the heavier sleaze bands.
