What areas have burgeoning/viable/healthy death metal scenes?

I can't think of any reputable dm bands from Chicago. There are plenty of local dm bands in the burbs(where i'm from) but nothing other than that.

Sweden is currently being over-run by Viking Metal bands
That better than being overrun by deathcore , hardcore and metalcore in Ma.I think anyone including people in Ma will agree that there no good death metal bands here in Ma.

I forgot about them, and there are a couple other thrash-ish bands. But right now theres only two people in AoB and I heard they were on hold (though according to M-A they're active so I dunno)

Uppsala is bringing a lot of good stuff nowadays, probably due to being a student city many new young bands are coming from there.

I'm with you brother. I know the guys from Bound & Gagged who are reuniting very soon. Novembers Doom are pretty well known and also Macabre
The scene is lacking to say the least.
