Erhm.. There are a lot of great bands out there, so it'll be hard.. But this is my top-10 list at the moment:

3. Blood Red Throne
4. Dying Fetus
5. Nile

9. Morbid Angel (their first two records)
10. Immolation

I concur with the other opinons here, where is Death? Cryptopsy? Gorguts? Morbid Angel? Obiturary? Atheist? Cynic? Suffocation? Dismember? Grave? At the Gates? Deicide (I don't like them but they're clearly influential, at least the early stuff)? Vital Remains? Immolation?

Progressive, rhythmic and evil.

Canada’s biggest DM band, they were important to the genre and mix European and New York style Death Metal.

Slovakian Death Metal at its best.

One of the first Swedish Death Metal band and they had a nice sound too.

Leaders of Polish Death Metal, they emerged when Death Metal promulgated through ex communist . Technically and aesthetically refined music.

One of the frontrunners of the German scene.

19) DISMEMBER (Sweden)
Top Swedish Death Metal band known for indecent and obscene songtitles and lyrics.

Standard Swedish Death Metal featuring ex Nihilist guitarist.
