Oblivious Maximus
I am the worm
I go to the local bookstore to get a book that I've been eyeing for a while. Clearly they're open as the door is wide open and there are a few customers browsing around yet there are no lights on. Save for the faint sunlight coming through the two large windows covered in posters, the open door and the faint glow coming from the computer screen on the front counter, the store is nearly pitch black. I get the book and take it to the counter where instead of ringing me up, the lady working begins to read from it aloud.
She stops reading and walks away, disappearing into the one of the many blacked out areas of the store. Its at this point the room changes and I'm now in a nightclub of sorts watching an S&M stage show. The stage is massive with a large white backdrop. On the stage are many cages with chained women, some wearing white gowns and red blindfolds, others blue prison suits (very Robbe-Grillet). The girl from the bookstore is in one of the cages, stage left. A blonde man wearing one of the white gowns walks towards her holding a bloody bucket. She drops something into it and he walks towards me. Inside the bucket is the book, which I pay for. He gives me my change, but its much more than the actual price of the book, and its in a strange new currency that resembles the US dollar but is different.
As the man walks away, the room again chances to a semi-fancy restaurant. A slightly pudgy man with a goatee wearing a blue tank top looks over and says that last night is wife was counting money on the bed and he wound up with a large pile of cash in his lap. That was pretty much it.
