one music genre is too constricting musically for mikael imo. i don't think he can help but write progressive genre bending stuff. it would probably end up sounding like "this was" by jethro tull or something.

No, it wouldn't be cool.

I like blues and when I want to listen to it I don't put on an Opeth album - I put on a Roy Buchanan or a Melvin Taylor or some other great blues musician's album.

But one cover of a blues song by Opeth would be cool though.

but Mikael's soloing is far from the great blues guitarists imo, even though they blend really well with their songs. his songwriting and song structuring is the best part abt him, which isnt the main part in blues songs. bluesy sections in songs is a great idea, which is already present.
