Yes. Utterly agree. Those two books are two of the best books written in the 20th century. Mind you, some of the occasional inconsistencies in the storyline let it down a little.phlogiston said:I know that. That's why I said "Which is fair enough".
The thing I like best about the first two books though is that they're gripping, even though pretty much nothing interesting happens most of the time. They bring out the plodding, timeless nature that he describes perfectly and when things start happening towards the end shows the confusion that's going on because no-one's used to it.
That is how books should be written.
