What is Opeths most evil riff ?!

The first words from Moonlapse Vertigo, with the acoustic lines behind... that's sadistic, and kills

But for the most SAD riff.... I'd SURELY go for Hope Leaves one, both sad and beautiful... Special mentions for Still Beneath The Sun, same thing

The last riff in A Fair judgement feels like you are taking a step into hell. If a go to hell that's the riff i want to listen to over and over again.

moonlapse vertigo: build up starting at 2:35 and then when he screams oh fuck that is so evil. unbeatable imo, such a fucking tuff riff
Yeah this is pretty much the right answer. This is definately the most 'evil' for me. If I had to choose a favorite, however, it would be a lot harder.

Wait, I want to change my answer. The most evil is definitely on Blackwater Park after the mellow part, when the distortion and growling comes back in. SO FUCKING EVIL! One time I was listening to that song stoned and I started picturing this really quiet cave made of ice. It was very calming. Then when the distortion comes back in, everything just falls apart. The growling starts and I picture this huge monster just crushing all the beauty in that cave, destroying everything in its path! It was intense!

Is 5/8 a fake time sig?

haha "no real time sig"

noob. The only way it'd have no time sig is if it were Chance Music, and since it's written down and doesn't involve playing the notes that an artist randomly splatters on a giant page of manuscript...then yeah....Its goign to have a REAL tiem sig.

wow, that was amusing.

Under The Weeping Moon (28 sec)
Black Rose Immortal (5:10)
Forest Of October (6:34)
The Grand Conjuration (main/starting riff)
Demon Of The Fall (2:16)

Just to name a few..

fair enough, it was mike who said it not me, so i'm not too bothered..

Another vote for the solo in BWP. Still get chills when I hear it.

Also like Baying of the Hounds. His growl leads into a great deep riff that is polished off by a great solo. I can't wait to hear that song live. The pit should go crazy for that one !
