What Is The Point Of Closing Threads...

...when all you have to do is stop replying to something and the thread goes down the page and eventually into the Great Thread Beyond? I think that closing threads is absolute bullshit as it's not exactly something you can do in real life. I.E...


somebody starts rambling about some senseless bullshit that you absolutely don't want to hear...


you remain quiet and hope to ignore THIS particular conversation...


yet a couple of equally retarted morons hope to converse with the first one, and do so for a while...


after a while more, after getting exhausted with the annoying banter, the two stop talking with the first and just ignore him. After a while, he just goes away...


Now, that was the REAL LIFE way of dealing with a stupid conversation. Now comes the FORUM WAY of dealing with it...

Then SUDDENLY, the Forum Moderator jumps in, uses his own personal judgement, points at the "offender", and suddenly a large steel cast, locked zipper appears over his mouth and we don't hear about that topic anymore...
