According to Dan Swano, this tone was miked with "SM57, Royer ribbon and AKG 414, might have been a MD421 there too, or a U87..don´t remember." but all I have out of that list is the SM57 and a Cascade ribbon (closest to a Royer
). I just did a test and it doesn't seem that the 57 is the right mic for the tone, maybe to blend kinda low, but it's not the force of the sound, haven't tried any of my other mics yet though. What do you think is the major factor based on the sound? I think I hear LDC influence, so maybe the 414 is playing a large part?
