what the fuck to do with my life plz

I respect the hell out of Jeff for sticking it out for the kids. That's what couples used to do back in the day when such a thing as "family values" still existed. If one makes decision to have some progeny, then your own personal needs need to be set aside. Everyone's such a selfish fuck nowadays, which is fine, just as long as you're not procreating. Look at coons, and why they're progressing about as fast as a gnat orbiting their lips. Too many broken homes, with not enough ebon stench to erect new walls.

This thread is killing it
J. is cracking me up
Ftr, I read his first post and knew exactly what he was talking about. He wasn't pointing at anyone here in particular either. When you're a parent and you get to know people your age who are NOT parents, eventually you have the conversation about kids and the sentiments he touched upon as the reasons the non-parents typically give for their situation are honestly pretty accurate.

YES!

And if they DO come up with something altruistic like "oh kids will keep me from stopping AIDS in Africa" it's complete bullshit. What they mean is "oh, I like getting up at 10 am every day even though I'm 40 years old and don't want some child to interfere with that"

The whole essence of my point.

Yes. This. I just read this. The important point he's making is the *to parents* part

Nothing wrong with not wanting to have kids, though.

I hope everyone sees that as a given

Dorian once again proves he is The Man.

I was gonna point this out earlier, but it seemed moot considering my audience. A good portion of bad parenting comes from individuals that want to keep everything the same even after a child is born, such as staying out late, playing video games all day, cussing at the other driver even though the only one that can hear you is the kid in the back, and also just acting like the kid isnt there. "Go play in your room" means "Get the hell away from me". People are more concerned about posting pics of themselves at the beach than playing catch with the kid, or helping them with homework. pathetic.

sorry for the delay. i was at a hs football game watching my daughter having fun dancing on the field at halftime. fuck facebook and beer pong

The wife and I had a discussion two nights ago where it was suggested that I make more money and/or work more hours

Just wanted to throw that one in the mix

Ftr, it was an accurate observation...but a little demoralizing considering the suggestion came from the person whose financial decisions are the ones now necessitating that I need to make more money and/or work more hours

and the people that do have kids that say they wish they didnt are complete liars. sure they might have a nostalgic moment wishing they were playing beer pong and watching porn on the projector in a meaningless existence
literally the only alternative to having your entire existence consumed by the care of children right here

just because your life was worthless before finding jesus/making children doesn't mean everyone else's is

i'll concede that having children is as close to the actual "meaning of life" we're likely to ever get from a biological standpoint but that still doesn't really convince me that it, also, is not an essentially pointless endeavour

this thread is pretty convincing that getting married is NOT one of the things one would want to be doing with their life

Pretty much. Let's publish it and put it in the Self-Help section.

Or perhaps the Horror section.

I'm at work right now btw  I asked a friend if I could take his shift.
