What your opinion aboout classical music?

i originally did not want to reply to prismatic's post but i will now hehehe...

i'm currently working towards a degree in music theory and analysis and i have to say that yngvai is the one who is correct although you are right to say that there were tons of changes during the romantic era. about the improvisation you are "kinda" correct

anyway i'm not interested in writing long posts, i'll leave u two duke it out ... but right now yngvai 1 - prismatic 0.5 hehe

btw not to be an anal son of a bitch but it's spelled Juilliard ... and yes improvisation is taught at juilliard, maybe not formally but it is encouraged in many areas

It is absolutely optional but, it helps like a million times better than non-studying it, i know it because i study classical guitar and composition. It really helps your musical vocabulary and it prepares you best for any musical situation that comes your way.
Do you think SX would be what it is if it wasnt for the classical education of Michael R. and Michael P. (you know, all the orchestral parts and choirs and stuff..)
