obviously, these are older style and have more than today's average high range. it was all the rage back in the day. I wouldn't call Bodom power metal, but yes some of the songs do hearken back to the 'Era of Strat'

if the intro to this doesn't "remind" you of Children of Bodom you may as well be deaf

^ actually that doesn't remind me of CoB at all  What about it is supposed to? I suppose the parallel fifths and use of natural harmonics are somewhat reminiscent of CoB, but it kinda seems like a long shot *shrug*

the arpeggios (broken chords)

yah ok drummer boy it's not exactly the same rhythm and the guitar tone is quite different

i'm quite certain you can hear. I expect Necroraven has some hearing problems- maybe needs tubes in the ears....

btw, all harmonics are natural. i believe you are referring to temperament which is a tuning practice- natural temperament being the norm for most instruments with the exception of the pianoforte which employs equal temperament (all the rage in the late Baroque unto today because it allows modulation between distant keys without the need to retune the keys as is the case with clavichord and harpsichord, plucked string keyboards sometimes referred to as the predecessor of the pianoforte, a hammered string instrument). natural or just temperament doesn't produce the standard half-step measured A440Hz chromatic scale tuning we all recognize

furthermore, parallel fifth motion is most noticeable as a blending of the voices producing the parallel motion (all parallel motion does this) whereas opposing motion will make each voice more prominent

further furthermore, I feel like I've posted too many videos.

Right. Well, I can see why you guys wouldn't come out with this next part on your own. If you take Necroraven's three videos plus those Malmsteen videos, does anyone else come up with Slipknot? 'cuz I'm pretty sure that broken chord comes up in the song Slipknot

Necroraven would you care to elaborate on where you are going with this?

What the hell are you talking about  I still don't see the point of you spamming 80's metal videos here, as if people thought Alexi invented neo-classical soloing. My point with those videos was, that you listen to a few seconds of them and you can tell what genre of music they are WITHOUT anylyzing, and how FTR doesn't sound/make you feel it's power metal at any point.

so you accept that it is black metal? or you contend that it is death metal?

On what do you base that? The poll? Statistics like that are terribly inaccurate you know- it's not nearly a big enough sample size to have any mathematical accuracy. Perhaps you should reconsider your choice. It is in your best interests to agree to black metal.
