Well, depends where you live and what you do. But the average of all brazilians is about US$ 10.710,00 a year. Our problem is the income distribution... Some people do more than 2 million a year.
The city where I live (Brasília, Brasil's capital) one (bad) house costs about 1,5 million USD.

The reason for imported prices being so elevated are simple: just one importer, brazilian taxes ultra high (at least 65% of imported product final price is just tax), crazy sellers.

That's why I go to US and buy my stuff.
