There was a ska trend in my city back in the early-90's when I first started playing bass. Was in a metal band that basically did a bunch of Sabbath and Metallica covers in some dude's garage. Living where we did we knew a bunch of ska faggots, and my guitarist called it "prozac music" which I still find funny. Anyhow:

Well that, or excellent taste. There was a big pseudo-punk and ska explosion when I was in high school playing with a thrash band and so every battle of the bands would be us versus about six bands trying to sound like Greenday.
