What's your current "I can't stop playing these songs" list?

Missy Elliot?? :Puke:

Yes, Missy indeed. Not the strongest lyricist by a long shot, but as far as musical innovation within a hip-hop scope is concerned, she's managed to keep herself ahead of the game consistently for nearly ten years. 'So Addictive' and 'The Cookbook' are two really excellent albums. She pretty much got me into hip-hop, although I was always drawn more to Timbalands genius of production. I listen repeatedly to 'On & On' because (despite being Pharrell produced, rather than by Tim), it has a completely futuristic edge to it. I've never heard a funk quite like it before. Really good scrathing too.

Top notch, tbph.

Actually she is rather untalented... If it wasn't for Timbaland's production she would be nothing.

Also there are much better female rappers, including.....................................................................................Da Brat................ummmmmm..............yeah

Her production credits on 'Lose Control', and her writing of the surprisingly soulful 'Teary Eyed' would indicate otherwise to me. But I'm not going to have this argument on a metal forum, I'll pretty much get raped :p

skalpel!

i have one of their videos on my ninja tune dvd...cant remember the name of the song, but the guys are playing this atmospheric song,...more like a soundscape but what they do and the music dont match. such a lovely track. how is the rest of their stuff? worth giving a try? any vocals on their work?

most vocals (when they appear) are spoken word but there is sometimes singing vocals without lyrics, (your typical jazzish accentual singing). i'd definately give their self titled debut album a listen, its pretty varied & experimental electronic jazz and has a nice spontaneous and improvised feel.

If you have the same ZenDVD version as me, you'll probably be talking about the track 'Scuplture' which is actually on this album. So even if your not into their more lively (yet still mid/down-tempo) jazzy/improv stuff you should enjoy tracks like 'together', 'behind the curtain', 'break in' and of course 'sculpture' which tend to wash over you in an atmospheric way.
But I'd really reccomend the album as an overall piece and give it a bit of time to sink in fully, I hope you get the album cos its really worth it.

So, I'm assuming that means you've heard the new My Chemical Romance album? The reason I ask is because I read nothing but praise for it in the press, and I would like to see what's good about the band because one of my best friends worships them, and I would like to see where she's coming from with that but... the previous two records have, quite simply, made me cringe.

So, is the album worth at least checking out? They must be doing something right if you can't stop playing one of their songs.
