No...or some creative experimentation with shorter or more standard song structures (not formulaic of course, still creative & fresh).
Honestly, I don't care how long the songs are as long as I can put on the album and listen to it from start to finish with no clue where each song began and ended. Even if you don't like Rush, you must admit "YYZ", at 4-5 minutes long, is hardly stale and predictable, and it's beloved by many, deservedly so IMO. I'm just saying writing progressive music in a shorter format would be a natural challenge for Opeth to undertake. I'd love to see an Opeth album with six 4-5 minute mini epics, toped off by another 20 minuter.
