Where is the old bodom?

As far as i'm concerned though you almost have an obligation as a band not to alienate your original fans, unless you are a conceited prick

if every band had that attitude there would be no second albums, what would be the point in remaking the same album over and over other than to make money touring? besides that, bands that write to their fans instead of for themselves generally suck. why? because people who know how to write music are better at it than people who just listen to it.

now im not talking about bands that go from death metal to pop punk or anything, but if bands do not progress as musicians and write music reflecting their genuine interests at the time the music they make is probably not going to be very good.

a forumda bir Türk daha var ne güzel :hotjump:

i think the all albums are great works;
something wild - death --> black
hatebreeder - black--> heavy metal
follow the reaper - heavy metal --> thrash
hatecrew death roll - thrash --> hardcore

"next studio album" - hardcore --> punk i think goes on like this, :)

i like all albums all songs, songs are no similareach others,
but in "hatecrew death roll", i dont like the guitar tones, they re so synthetic, both rhythms and leads, (punk tones, not fully gained heavy metal distortions like the other albums)

thats all folks!!

You know you guys are right, but i guess the change was so rapid i didn't see it coming. The reason i feel so strongly though is because i really do love this band and don't really want another metallica. One thing i will always have problem with though is the fact they don't play "tokyo touch like angel of death" anymore. Come on guys, it's only an extra five minutes.

:D Weiner!!!!
How Long is the intro on it... Was it like 1:20 or something....
Oh and I love the speach before it...
Alexi: U want some Moore Heevi Metaal!!!
Crowd:Waaaahhhhh
Alexi: U GOT IT!!!
He had some cool speeches then... Nowadays... hmmm... Nothing special usually... Just fuck this and fuck that.

I don't think that the next album will have much punk influences. Alexi just recorded a full length album with his punk band Kylähullut so I don't think he will use much punk orientated riffs on the next COB album. I noticed that Alexi, Henkka, Janne and Jaska became big fans of this New Wave Of American Heavy Metal or Metalcore or however it's called so it can be that this influences the next album. Or maybe they will do something completely else like party and drinking Metal like Andrew W.K..

However, everybody who doesn't like Hate Crew Deathroll much won't like the next albums.

well that was a letdown, thanks a lot zarok for already ruining it for me. I was seriously hoping more something wild or hatebreeder.

I will never forget this One loser i met at the most recent cob show who was such a fuckin jerk off...... he says and I quote "If its american its shit" LOL What a dumb ass piece of shit.

hardcore....no..just no, they arnt anywhere near hardcore or punk. the synthetic sound is awesome, its like perfect recording.
but about being nu metal or punk or hardcore or whatever, just cause like of a few extremly small aspects of their songs that may have a tad bit of punk or whatever, it definetly doesnt make them punk, and they are still metal. green day has some riffs that resemble metal, but they are far from a metal band.

i think bodom has changed just the right amount.. not too much, not too litle, so they have a sorta new sound, but its still distinctly bodom.

@thomas: comon you do have to agree with the guy just a little. many of the greatest bands came from europe. Sabbath, Maiden, Venom, Bathory, Immortal, Thin Lizzy etc. i know there are plenty of bands too that paved the way for many bands here in the states: i dare say it, metallica, slayer, death, cannibal corpse, dream theater etc. but i think todays metal is considered more "pop metal" is what i like to call it. many bands are changing there sound to accomodate fans of a weaker genre. so they can sell more records and all that crap. look at Cradle of Filth, i know they are european but they are just one of those bands who are capitalizing on americanism on metal. if lamb of god can be metals hottest bands, then i beleive Bodom should become more well known with there approach and style.
i would like to say that Bodom is doing what they want, its not like they are spitting on our face and playing pop metal or whatever. but hey im going to support them whatever they play. they have more talent than most of the acts that make it on mtv2 or headbangers ball or whatever the next big metal show will be. and music should be what the artists want it to be, not what we want to hear. i dont really think ive heard an group or artist say "well we heard what you guys said and we made the music how you guys wanted it". groups like that wouldnt last.

I can't see why all this whining is necessary..I love both old and new, I love it all.. And I don't consider it a bad thing that the albums sounds different from each other, what cool is there about repetition? They have yet to let me down.

and in every album the guitar tones, setups different from each others.. but all of its great and congruous..
i also think that Alexi has no a "stable guitar sound" in their every shows.. or Alexi doesn't pay attention for it..

I don't want Bodom to go back to 'Hatebreeder' as much as I want the new music to actually be *good*. Come on, you can't tell me that you didn't just drop your jaw in awe when Alexi rips that shitty metalcore verse in TLS as a filler... I closed the video straight away.

I can't believe that this is the direction the band is going in after the brilliant releases such as FTR. Hate Crew was manageable, but it was already hooking itself onto a rhythmic sound over anything.

It seems with this 'change' of style Bodom are pretty much ripping away everything that made them Bodom and just adapting those sterile, catchy nu-metal riffs that loop ad infinitum.

I really have to say... I'm dissapointed as hell with TLS. Just seeing the 'Downfall' and 'Everytime I die' videos included with it, you can see how much the band's sound has degenerated over time.

Not to mention using those shit-ass guitars. I mean c'mon... didn't Alexi modify the electronics of the ESP to sound like his old Jackson? Seriously, what's the point? I know Jackson screwed him over, but fuck man, they make better guitars.
