Continuing on from the other thread, I'm interested to see which bands are pushing the envelope this year. Help me out.

Give me 5 artists at the top of their game, and I'll go buy 5 CDs.

Primordial and November's Doom, but you knew that already. And then there are bands like Nevermore, Moonsorrow, & Ulver, whose 2005 releases undoubtedly rival their best work (unless you loathe everything after Nattens or are one of those debut is always the best people), but defy any easy judgements as to their place in their catalogues...

mars volta and queens of the stone age, i guess. can't really pick a favorite from either band since mars volta only have 2.5 releases and queens are just THAT FUCKING GOOD.

i don't like blood inside, i hope that i do someday though. :(

Hard to say with Ulver, they are all so different, but there is no doubting they pushed the envelope with Blood Inside.
Moonsorrow kicked much ass though. :headbang:

MESHUGGAH. I can't believe nobody said Meshuggah yet.
i dig I better, but probably catch 33 is in second place. then chaosphere, then nothing, then destroy erase improve. i mean if i had to rank them, which apparently i do. did. whatever.
