Which artists this year are producing their best work to date?

Pantheïst
Primordial
Red Sparowes - At the Soundless Dawn , everyone needs it ! Still summer time ..
Deathspell Omega - Kénôse (best active black metal band , it would be a shame not to try :D )
...and keep your dollars for Tenhi and Lunar Aurora , they got a chance of toping eveything they've done too !

The new Pelican is not as good as Australasia . It's obvious , and not because it has "changed" of style (I like more Red Sparowes than Pelican)

Already have the Primordial, Novembers Doom, Naglfar, Nevermore, and Moonsorrow. Whether the latest albums are their best work to date is debatable, particularly the Novembers Doom, but all fine-to-good releases nonetheless. Not sure ND will ever top "The Knowing" but still....

I'm very interested in these:

Reverend Bizarre
Isole
Pantheist
Pelican

I can go without Opeth I think. I mean, if you get people like Dark One saying it's shit, then it's got to be a complete abomination. I wonder if I can trade in my Blackwater Park? :loco:

At this rate, I'm hoping it's gonna to be all out armageddon when "The Locust Years" drops. I'm talking complete whitewash, bitches.

i never made it through that ND disc. around track 4 i go "this sucks" and then i go "what doesn't?" and then i go "pearl jam" and then i go "yeah, that's true" and then i go "i'll listen to them instead" and then go "yeah, this rules" and then that's it.

but i did set it aside for autumn listening, hopefully will enjoy it as the weather cools down.

The new YOB is fantastic. It and Pelican are among my favorite of the year. I reviewed that Pantheist album for MetalReview, if you're interested. Very good album.

hmm ... that first track you had was really good ... these other two are little "wall of noise" like.
Especially The Endmills ... totally reminds me of Axis of Perdition.
I don't think I could handle this band for more than 2-3 songs straight ... they have a cool vibe ... just a little OTT for me.

Worth taking into consideration that the first track was remastered for the re-release, so that could make the difference. Personally, I love the really muddy and impossibly complex sound the way it is.

Buy "At the Soundless Dawn" by Red Sparowes , not the new Pelican ;)

try to give it a few spins around .... oh, i don't know .... November?
