Which of our readers plays a musical instrument?

I play a Fender Squire P-Bass with a 50W Laney amp. Judge it how you want because I don't exactly go hardcore on the equipment  I've been playing for three and a half years with just that little baby. He's done me pretty well (his name is Sephiroth ;)). I've just basically learnt to play by practising off tabs and being helped by mates. I have a pretty mean gallop (thank you Steve Harris  ) but don't know any fucking music theory. Should be rectifying that over the summer :)

I'm in a band called Genocide. Don't diss the name - I only found out about all the other bands called that about six months ago :p we've been together for just over a year but it's pretty tough, as the band keeps falling apart. We've had so many people come and go for so many different reasons - I kid you not, our singer has just left to join the circus. We have some originals that, while not exactly Stairway To Heavens, I'm kinda proud of ^_^ hopefully we'll be cutting a demo and playing live over the summer.

THE TOADIES!!! I miss them so much... :( How did you like Hell Below Me, Stars Above?

Loved it. Not quite as catchy as Rubberneck, but the guitar riffs are superb.

I'm just glad I finally found someone here who loves the Toadies... *sniff*

Since buying my new bass this weekend I have put at least an hour of practice in each day, and am quickly returning to the same level I was 5 years ago when I stopped my regiments (damn I was good then). Go me. :)

Awesome, u da man! RPWL & Ray Wilson on the way!

Mark - I got an e-mail from Amman this morning from Malta. Based on the last InsideOut promos you handed him, he wrote this (and I quote):

By the way, Mark really needs to sort out this promo shit. Some of these promos are not even metal and I am not gonna waste my time reviewing pop/genesis music.

You can just imagine him scratching his head thinking 'what the fuck...'? Looks like Smothered Hope might be getting in a few more from Malta.

Add me to that list!! I bought Rubberneck at this great little used CD store in Boston on one of my first "dates" with JayKeeley. Awwww, romance in the CD store.

Ha ha - I know he's going to read that and think, "how the fuck do you remember things like that?!" :loco:

Awwwww... that's cute. :)

(I'm eating red meat right now so I'm allowed to use the word "cute." :p )

No, I remember that. In Boston, in that CD store in Harvard Square, and you picked it up for a $1 didn't you? And it was still new at the time.

Used CD stores rule. Boston is such a cool old town. New Jersey really is a complete dive when you think about it.

And I think it's cute that you can use the word "cute."

And that's really cute too that you remember all the details!!

OMG.... we're all so cute!!

Royal Carnage: The new home of metal cuteness.

Oh dear, sugar overload. :ill: Uhhh.... I love satan and clubbing baby seals? :p

Well that's cool. that's the problem i was having with reviews because much of prog music is could be considered rock as well as metal. There aren't really a ton of straight up prog metal bands, most tend to mix lighter music with metal (that's kinda the point of prog, tempo and style changes). So to pick prog cds to review was a hard thing to do. If you don't care about there being lighter rock reviews on Royal Carnage then I'll review what you give me, no problem. I wanted to check out the new RWPL and the Ray Wilson anyway. (I kinda like some "pop/genesis" type stuff sometimes)

The Toadies rock your mamas ass. You guys are "cute" for remembering crap like that.

You can say that again. Boston is such a great town. If it weren't for all the problems you had traveling in and out of there, I'd move back in a heartbeat.

The bad weather was a killer! And the Big Dig is just a waste at this point. But still, Boston really is a beautiful city. So is Chicago (too cold), and I like San Diego too (but too remote).

In this country, I think if you want to live somewhere that's not too conservative and has good weather, you really have to be in California.

Hells yes, predictable weather and far too many liberals everywhere. There's nothing cute about them. :p I tell my mom that I want to move to San Francisco and she always says "I think it's a bit liberal for you." That doesn't bother me though, as long as you think through what you are saying I don't mind disagreeing with you.

Political opinions aside, it's the rude people I hate. 90% of the people here are rude, I have literally shocked women by opening the door for them. They get that "...what are you doing...?" look on their face. Driving is the worst though, everyone drives like they are wearing blinders, or are just completely blind. Nothing better than someone WATCHING you drive 60+ mph and then just pulling in front of you going 10. Hmmmm, maybe this should be in the bitch about anything thread? :D

I've heard that about Cali drivers... and of course that you can't even go to the local deli without getting on the freeway. I think San Fran is really cool, but the weather isn't spectacular (I like it a little warmer) and the people seem so pretentious. Liberal doesn't bother me, it's when people don't accept that their may be an opinion other than their own in the world. It seems like you get that a lot around SF.
