While I ended up loving technical metal, BUT..

Gorefest - False (Reality when you die) this is a MUST MUST MUST listen to
Morbid Angel - Formulas Fatal to the Flesh (Nothing is not, Invocation)
Dimmu Borgir - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia (Kings of the carnival creation, blessings upon the throne of tyranny)
Cradle of Filth - Midian (Her ghost in the fog)
Decapitated - Winds of Creation (Winds of creation)
Suffocation - uh... can't remember the album name, but it's got Funeral Inception on it. .. killer song.

...And... you checked out Death too didn't you?

It's "Despise The Sun". And yes, it is awesome.

As for the recommend thing, only one need be mentioned.

"EMPEROR". Any of em, but especially the last three. Prometheus is the epitome of song writing and shall never be surpassed unless ofcourse Emperor reform and out do themselves.

I can only live in hope for that day.

Emperor has had a some pretty drastic changes over the years, so you might want to be sure to check out a sample from all of their albums, you might find a specific album that you like.

As for Death Metal, try: (Not sure if you know any of these yet)

Pan-Thy-Monium, Death Metal mixed with a variety of other things, really great stuff.

Hypocrisy, older Amorphis, Kataklysm, Edge of Sanity, older Therion...

Check out Primordial - A Journey's End (get 'A Graven Idol' cool song), pretty cool folky black metal. not satanic and not full of blast beats

Atheist are good jazz/death

definately follow Silent Screams recommendations and check out Edge of Sanity, (Purgatory Afterglow + Crimson), Amorphis (Tales from the Thousand Lakes and Elegy), Hypocrisy (Abducted, the Fourth Dimension, The Final Chapter)

all brilliant.

and give Emperor another go, they're worth getting into. try the song The Eruption off their Prometheus: Discipline of Fire and Demise album

Finally someone recommended Hypocrisy... they rock... try Abducted or The Fourth Dimension or The Final Chapter... " notices ham's post " hmmm yeah those lol. As for black metal, try Bal Sagoth, their guitar player is great and they are anything but satanic. Try the cd called Atlantis Ascendant.

Read the post you quoted: THREAD TITLE, as in TITLE of the THREAD, as in I like technical metal, as in DEATH.

Blah.

you're not making any sense there, buddy.
You asked for good Death metal bands which you might learn to like. So I tell you of this band called Death. Ask some other metalheads maybe one of them knows this band.

If for any reason you totally dont like the band called Death, there is a slim chance that you will find any good "Death-metal" band out there that you might like.

And by the way READ BEFORE YOU POST DUMBASS

thanks! :D

p.s. oh and by the way, "technical metal" is not synonomous with "death metal". Just thought I'd clear that up.

Sfarog-- He likes technical death metal. I believe he's classifying Death as technical death metal and now he's in search of more straightforward Death metal, a la Origin.

He wants death metal, people. Why the hell are people mentioning Cradle of Filth, Darkane, Dimmu Borgir, and Soilwork? -Death- metal.

They are Death metal, let's not get into this stupid discussion again:rolleyes:

try vadar i think they are pretty good. I particularly like the song "the calling" dl it, it's good.
Someone earlier mentioned katalysm they are good too.

If you haven't listened to the new/last emperor cd, prometheus, it is really alot more accessable than their old stuff. Not a huge amount of blast beats. I reccomend it .

carcass i also like...but u probably have already tried them.
meshuggah (destroy erase improve cd mainly) is also good.

Reccomend some?

NO satanic bullshit like I mentioned. I don't care if they are just joking, I don't wanna hear it.

Ehh... I don't think the genres are for you.
