Im Luke, 24 and I work in a video store as an assistant manager. I was a professional bag pipe player for 7 years and played for The Red Lion Pipe Band for President Bill Clinton twice. Started singing in punk bands and switched to guitar for a goth band many years ago. I didnt fit in with them very long for I liked thrash and groove playing better. Finished some college and have to start up again soon or I will get kicked out of my girlfriends place .I have obsessions with Swedish Melodic Thrash, zombies, and hot chicks who treat me like shit. Im kinda cranky and sometimes act like Im 60. I study Psychology mostly. I dont drink much , dont smoke , and never done drugs. I dont consider myself straight edge though because I hate the idea of being lumped into the hardcore ideal with kids doing lawnmower ninja moves. I pray for the apocalypse and to drive a car like Mad Max.

some days left until I´m 30...doing my PHD in biology...travel a lot in europe due to conferences and meetings...huge flat, 18y old car...one 15month daughter (want more, was planned)...good money (1000€ a month) but only for one year more...then I´ll either get unemployed, open a restaurant for families with their kids, open a junk shop for old furniture and stuff, try to manage some bands (inclusive mine Neun Welten)/organize dark folk concerts or as best solution work somewhere here as biologist

I'm a 23 year old swede currently living in Heidelberg in order to learn german. This I do mostly to be able to read german litterature/philosophy/whatever, but it might also grant me a teacher job or a job as translator sometime in the future, if I'm extremly lucky. I listen to most kinds of metal, has been doing so for quite some time now, and never feel like stopping.
I've never posted that much on this forum, but I like it and have been a steady visitor for a number of years. And as long as the internetz prospers, I'll keep coming back

I am 36, working for in the semiconductor business since 1995. I love travelling to metalfests, tattoo conventions, and horror conventions while throwing alot of sightseeing into those trips as well.

No kids, at least to this point. I saw divorce growing up, saw my brother going thru it recently and I think alot of it makes me wonder if I would even be a good parent even though I am a good person.

Finally made it back to Europe last year(for Inferno fest) for the first time since I moved back from Germany after living there 3 years while in the army. I now have plans for at least one trip over there a year.

I will be off to Czech Republic, Germany, and Amsterdam in July.

I had time to listen to a ton of stuff while in college. Is there any other time in life where you have more free time? And it takes even less time to post here. As for shows and festivals, I've never been to any. I was able to spend a lot of money on CDs then as well because I lived with my mother, had half off tuition, and had a scholarship.

But that was well over a year ago. Now I'm 23, living in Japan, and have neither the time, money, nor energy to do much of anything.

I may have the oppurtunity to go to Japan quite soon to study for a year or two but am really undecided about it. I've been there once on holiday and quite liked it though I don't know about being there for so long. What is it like living there as a foreigner? Positives/negatives etc. I get the feeling that I may really end up hating it, but career wise it could be my best option, BTW I'm about your age and already have a Bachelor's w/Hons.

35, married, 2 kids (ages 2 & 5, both boys), work for a telecommunications consulting company that works with homeland security/FEMA, etc for disaster notification solutions. We also work with the utility industry (gas, water, electric) for the same shit. Career path? Please. I'm doing this for the money. Period. I was foolish enough to drop out of college when I was there because I was paying my own way and hated it. Not to mention all I did was drink and listen to metal. I only got to where I am today by working my ass off. If I didn't have children and the financial requirements I now have, I would love to open a record store (wouldn't we all) or a landscaping company. Yardwork fucking rules.

I used to do an underground (see: cable access) video show called The Dark Hour in the early 90's. All we did was play extreme metal videos and act like fools. Unfortunately, in the early 90's, there were only about 40 bideos we could use. We would also play bands demos over footage of horror movies while displaying their address on screen. Good shit. Made a lot of great friends during that time. I still talk with a few. The rest have disappeared.

Now I run Ars Magna Recordings as time allows. I had always wanted to run a label. Had I started back when I did the show, I might be Osmose now. I also dabble in booking shows on occasion.

In my spare time I play with my kids, drink when I am able, and work on promoting the label...at least until a few days ago. Now all I do is harass Bacfire Prods to find out how any fucking copies of Raventale they can send me!! I don't get to purchase new music as much as I used to because nearly all of my $ goes to my obligations to my family. The $ used for the label stays with the label. I do get to hear new metal quite a bit because of it, so that helps. I'm originally from Minnesota but live in Ohio so I don't really have any friends here. Just a couple. When I go to shows, I go alone.

As for kids, I can't imagine life without them...but I always wanted them. It's not for everyone. It pisses me off when I hear people telling those that have no kids that they are making a mistake, will change their minds, whatever. It's like anything else...everyone has the own gig. Some people want kids, others don't.

Wow...I need to shut the fuck up. It looks like I'm working on a manifesto or something.
