Who wants their voice on DT's new album?

Anacrucix--if you're judging LaBrie by that album, you won't get a real idea of what he's like. Better to listen to Awake if you want to hear him in top form, and Octavarium is pretty good, too.

i have like 4 albums and a dvd, the vocals on a couple of tracks from octavarium are alright (these walls, Never enough) but i dont think ill ever come to terms with dream theaters lyrics, pain, oh the pain.

Scenes from a memory is hands down my all time favorite cd! I bought it 4 years ago and listen to it atleast once a week. I am showing no sign whatsoever of getting bored with it and I hope I never do!

The only track on the entire album that actually pisses me off at all is Beyond This Life, and that's just 'cause I can't stand the entire middle of the song, where it's just Jordan Rudess scrolling through his patches, improvising on each. It's not necessary, and it drags on and on.

Lol, that's actually my second favorite song. I like Fatal Tragedy best though.

I think you guys are all way to harsh on dream theater, either you guys call them gods or you spite them... Get the fuck over it, they're a great band who have their ups and downs, they're very talented and know what they're doing, the only thing that I can say makes me listen to them less is some of there stuff gets borring indeed, but I'm a fan of ToT so...

That's basically the same point I'm trying to make. There's really only one album that pisses me off...the rest is fine. They don't have to be perfect for me to like the stuff of theirs that I do like.

i think trying to argue that scenes from a memory is a shit album just isnt going to work here!

I think you're rightthere, and it's the only thing you've been right about this whole discussion... :p

I can't believe you guys were having this discussion without me!

Firstly, I reckon a big thanks to Joeshabadoo for that report seeing as that it was vry informative and actually on-topic...

Scenes From A Memory is my all time favourite album ever, it was not only the first DT album, but the first progressive album of any kind! I have no problem with long instrumental sections, I happen to enjoy Beyond This Life and Dance Of Eternity and in fact all of the songs on the album apart from the talking at the start... I also love what Jordan Rudess brought to the band, and when you consider that SFAM was the follow up to a really average album in FII, he really helped bring them back up to where they should be.

As with any band there are parts which I love, and parts which I don't really enjoy, but it is the overall product which really counts, and I consider SFAM to be their masterpiece. I love all their albums, but to put them in order would be:
SFAM
IAW
TOT
SDOIT
A
WDADU
O
FII

There you go, to all the DT haters out there- STOP!!! :heh:

REP ME I CALLED IT

"You forfeit any rights to appear on the album credits"

MP: "How can we get free labor and not give any credit... I know, let's enlist the fanboys!"

hook

line

sinker.

Who cares if you're in the credits or not? I would just be happy with being part of the album and meeting the band.

I like all the "wanky" instrumental stuff, if they didn't have that I don't think they would be Dream Theater.

Jordan Rudess is king of all things Keyboard. Ragtime FTW

It's funny how any Dream Theater thread ever almost always turns in to a flame war about whether they're good or not.

Usually between Metal Heads and Prog Snobs too. (Stereotypes, OH NOES)
