Who wants their voice on DT's new album?

fuck progsnobs. I'm a music addict.

fanboys are also lame. bands deserve respect for their accomplishments and criticism for their shortcomings, and neither should be grossly overlooked due to an extreme bias.

There happens to be a difference between criticism and flaming.

Just as much as you don't like DT fans for being biased when it comes to liking a band, you saying what the band should be recognized for and what they should be criticized for is only your opinion.

logical fallacy.

that it is my opinion is your opinion. see the problem with this argument? it goes nowhere. try again. just cause you don't like me saying negative things about a band (lol, a band i LIKE) doesn't mean you have to be a fanboy and make some absurd excuse for why i'm wrong.

I wasn't expecting any recognition/compensation at all. I wasn't providing some amazing service or skill. They could've taken any 50 of their fans to get the stuff they wanted. I just wanted to be on teh record, meet some of the DT members, and hear some of the new record. All 3 happened. Me is happy

And happy you should be. :) It was a great opportunity that I'm sure if anyone had been invited to take part in it personally they would have jumped at the chance... :D I know if I was guaranteed to get in and take part, I would've come from anywhere to make it happen... Except Australia, which sucks, cos that's where I am... :erk:

generous...

come here, shout this phrase for a couple minutes, you won't get paid, oh yea, we're done. get out of here. you probably won't even get credit for it (not like you did much anyway  ) it's just senseless. Portnoy was probably thinking: hmmm how can we get a choir for this part dirt cheap and fast? I know!! We'll just tell the fanbois they can do it and we'll have a line of desperate slobs around the building! Awesome thinking, batman!

forgive me for jumping in on this thread a little late, i saw DT in the topic heading and decided to avoid it for as long as possible (till i saw that it was getting several pages long and figured something else must be up..) ANYHOO.. in response to this quote.. Kenneth.. will you marry me?

Oh, great, two more people willing to jump into the institution without taking the time to get to know each other a little better first. Ah, statistics you shall be...

Here's some statistics for Kenneth and SR to ponder.

From the journal "Archives of Sexual Behavior"

This study examined the prevalence of Internet use for meeting sexual partners among men who have sex with men. The study also examined HIV risk behaviors among men who reported meeting a sexual partner via the Internet. A sample of 609 men was surveyed while attending a gay pride festival in Atlanta, GA. (No not ProgPower) Participants completed a questionnaire assessing demographic information, Internet use, gay acculturation, AIDS knowledge, attitudes about condoms, global substance use, and sexual behavior. A substantial majority of men (75%) reported using the Internet to access gay-oriented web sites. One third of the sample (34%) reported having met a sexual partner via the Internet. Men meeting sex partners online reported higher rates of methamphetamine use. Men meeting sexual partners over the Internet reported having sex with more male partners in the previous 6 months (M = 8.38, it SD = 19.39) compared with men not meeting partners in this manner (M = 3.13, SD = 4.99, p < .001). Men meeting partners via the Internet also reported higher rates of sexual risk behaviors including unprotected anal receptive intercourse (p < .05) and unprotected anal insertive intercourse (p < .01). The high prevalence of Internet use as a method of meeting sexual partners suggests that sexual networks may be forming over the Internet. The Internet therefore provides opportunities for new HIV primary prevention interventions.
