Who will Headline?

Pain of Salvation qualifies for headliner slot. After the extended set at PP1 and the schedule-dictated slot for PP3, they can hold the stage. I'd even like it since a lot of people who hate PoS could just leave early.
I'd argue, that PP3 showed they can't hold the stage. By the time they were three songs into their set, two thirds of the people were gone. That may give you extra room to worship the Daniel, but I'm guessing it doesn't make the promoter happy.

For those proclaiming Nightwish..... am I missing somthing or are they still looking for a singer? Can't play the show with no singer.

Someone said Symphony X and G-Ray.

That's my ideal. I would have a fit or two.

They plan to have a new singer by year's end 2006, finish the new album and get the new singer up to speed on all the classic NIGHTWISH material, and then who knows, maybe a US tour we will have to see.:err:

I can actually see that happening,
I see this
Fri nite-Symphony X
Sat
R o Fire

Fri nite #4 slot-Crimson Glory Reunion
Sat Nite #4 slot-Either a Vandon Plas/or Pagan's Mind

and for those thinking Brainstorm returning at a higher slot is impossible
I think they possibly put on one of the best sets(energy wise) at ProgPower 4.If Edguy could headline,Brainstorm could (IMO,a MUCH better band)

ON NO Chris has that crystal ball out again, just kidding dude, some good choices, but god let's hope there is no R of Fire. I am not a big fan of them and i do believe Glenn has said they are insanely expensive $$$$$$.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing Zod. C'mon people. Be realistic. The only bands I've seen that are realistic are Vanden Plas and Sonata Arctica. Everything else is either fantasy, or bands that just don't qualify for headliners slots.

My choice to headline is Kamelot. I believe they will have a new album coming out spring of 07, they also have the DVD coming out Nov 21st. They qualify for the headlining spot and damn I pray Glenn is considering them.

Possibles for headlining:

-- Nightwish, who have already stated that they'll start their world tour in the US next year
-- Symphony X
-- Gamma Ray
-- Therion (well, financially tough, but I'd looooooooove it)
-- Vanden Plas
-- Brainstorm
-- Heaven And Hell
-- Arjen A. Lucassen, in some sort of capacity that better include Ayreon, damnit :)

Bands not quite headliner status but who would be awesome to see:

-- PoS
-- Orphaned Land
-- Scar Symmetry (yeah they might be opening for NM, so? :))
Your list is nearly identical to mine exept I'd skip PoS and add Amorphis.

Yeah, but you're not the only person in the world.

As far as DragonForce goes, I doubt they would be interested based on Herman's answer when I asked them, but I could be wrong.

I hope to see Orphaned Land and Therion return. :headbang:

Well, I know Symphony X will not be there for a fact(unfortunately) BUT I would personally like to see PAGANS MIND or VANDEN PLAS headline. I would also love to see To-Mera play as well.

Hmm...I haven't made an offer to any potential headliner yet so you must have information that I do not have at my disposal. That is the honest to God truth. And furthermore, I'm going to cut you some slack since you are new here. Any posts on my potential roster from band leaks will get you banned in a hurry.

Dragonforce could headline. Cellador doesn't have enough material to play 90 minutes.

Rhapsody cost too much back in 2002 or so when Glenn was first asked the question in some interview(I think it was metal-rules.com). But now they are touring the states as an opener. I'm sure they demanded less money to do that, so I'd imagine they would be open to headliner Progpower for what Glenn could afford.

Also remember that Glenn's objection in that interview was to the cost of all the backup singers and such that Rhapsody would bring. But by PPVI, Glenn managed to afford Therion. So perhaps things have changed.

Dragonforce was on tour last year, I'd say their 5 minutes is already up and I am a Dragonforce fan. Rhapsody is fine, but I'd rather see Luca do his solo stuff instead if they are so pricey as you claim, but if they bring Christopher Lee with them, then it's probably worth it.

I already mentioned Labyrinth, Primal Fear, Dragonland. I remembered some others I would like to see headline or just play period. Freedom Call and Lost Horizons. If bands like that are not headline material for a progpower festival which I assume the goal is to afford an oppertunity for fans to see bands they under normal circumstances would have no chance to see in the USA, then I don't know what is.

*edit, last year means this year..wishful thinking.. make it 2007 already*
