...but Headbangers Ball actually introduced me to a couple of bands.

Couple of weeks ago they had a video from Insomnium and I immediately bought their new CD "Above the Weeping World" and it rips. They remind me of Dark Tranquility without the keyboards. Good stuff.

This weekends Ball (that I watched last night) had a band called Daath which plays a killer combo of melodic death and really catchy thrash. The CD is called the Hinderers. The weird thing was after I watched it, I checked to see what goodness The End Records had and one of the new CD's for the day was the Daath CD - so I ordered it. I think it was a sign of some sort.

I've noticed that I've been fast forwarding less and watching more of the Ball lately. They even played an old Sacred Reich video on the last show. Maybe they are coming around a little.

Daath is from the Atlanta area, and have been signed to Metal Blade records if I recall correctly. I honestly haven't paid much attention to them yet, but their name is everywhere around here. I'll probably try and catch a show of theirs soon.

Glad you're finding stuff on the Headbanger's Ball you can enjoy. :headbang: I guess I'll have to check it out again sometime soon... maybe TiVO it and give it a run through.

It seems the Ball has good weeks and bad. When they do play Metal, I'm often surprised by what they play. I guess it's mainly driven by label push and not by quality.

Zod

EDIT: Wow... my last sentence is redundant.

I might have to TIvo this as well and see if I can find one video I like. I Tivo Metal Mania everytime it comes on.

I caught part of this weeks and noticed they were mixing it up more as well, definitely made for better viewing.

I also noticed that Jamie Jasta (sp?) is no longer hosting, they're just doing straight up videos. I think I've caught two of them now like that, anyone know if that is a permanent thing now?

Imsomnium is excellent

Jamie doesn't do it every week. Sometimes they get guest hosts. My guess is they couldn't find anybody so they just played the videos.

Daath is signed to Roadrunner. We had dates with them last year. Pretty cool guys. Their album was done by James Murphy and Chaz Najjar, both of whom are handling the production and mastering for our new album. After hearing the quality of the Daath album I'm even more excited to hear what they do with ours.

The last time I watched it they played Into Eternity's video for 'Severe Emotional Distress,' (in which they censored Block's use of the words 'cutting' and 'knife' ) as well as a video from Nevermore and one from Gojira. I raced through the episode in about 15 minutes and kicked it off of the DVR.

I don't really plan on recording it on a regular basis, it's mediocre at best, painful at its worst.

If jamey slows down on his agnostic front push and his endorsements for the shit bands on his label and actually played novembers doom and opeth videos...it would be a whole hell of alot better

Headbangers' Ball convinced me to buy the latest Moonspell cd, despite the fact that I've hated everything they've done starting with Sin/Pecado. I'm glad I bought it... they're finally back on the right track.

HBB was also my first exposure to Biomechanical, and their disc was my second favorite album of '05 (after Morgana Lefay - Grand Materia).

They're playing here as part of a larger tour on April 21st, opening for Satyricon at the Masquerade (upstairs). Very cool guys and frequent WREKage in-studio guests.

We're giving their new CD a good push because the rest of Atlanta's feeble-minded music press have their heads so far up rap/hip-hop's ass they won't have a clue who Daath is...until they get nominated for a Grammy.
Think I'm kidding? Witness Mastodon. :heh:

Congrats to Daath's studio singer (not the touring singer), who is getting married this Saturday, too! :headbang:

I was flipping by Metal Mania the other day and there was a video for Queensryche's "Queen of the Reich" on....yikes, it was hilarious...:zombie:

There is a clip of that on their video DVD... they were so embarassed by it they only showed a clip... and at that 5 second viewing I laughed my butt off...

However, the video for 'Nightrider' was on the DVD.... wow... proof that colored spandex wasn't a great idea for a fashion tread and Tate when he's singin' looks like a constipated Mick Jager at times... Again ~ a riot...

I recorded last week's. FFed most of it. The metal ballet thing was weird. It's a neat idea but they weren't even really dancing to the music.

Headbanger's Ball introduced me to lots of great bands. But this was in 1988-1990.

Some were: Death Angel, Nuclear Assault, Overkill, Laaz Rockit, Forced Entry.
