I have to agree. When he's not attacking sovereign nations, doubling the national debt, throwing out the Geneva Convention, collapsing the economy, pissing on the constitution or letting American cities drown...

...ignoring the Kyoto Protocol

lol, in most European countries people hate others from the neighbouring village let alone any proper outsiders.

The media attention around the US elections are bigger than any other save our own here in Sweden at least. Around election time, at least an hour/evening in all the big channels and some mention in most, more in the news channels about it all... Personally I don't give much of a fuck though.

man, it's sad. it's like people are waiting for him to fail.

what's scary is that the buy-your-own-rape-kit bimbo is out campaigning for 2012. she needs to disappear....now.

If she makes a bid for the White House in 2012, it will go down in flames. The more people learn about her, the worse their view of her becomes. Can you even imagine all the dumb shit that would come out of her mouth over a 10 month election cycle, if she was at the top of the ticket?

Now that people are reacting to what Obama intends to do, rather than speculation/paranoia, we've seen the largest three day gain in the stock market since 1987.

They're more responding to the clinton people he's taking into the economical stage of his administration, and especially to Geithner whom I actually feel was a good choice. That and Orszag has a lot of hype around him, granted I have no fucking clue who he is. I'll have to read up when I actually get a minute. However, at the current rate that the feds are handing out money to various companies, I have a feeling this gain is very temporary and will probably be knocked back in a few days when people snap back to the now and not 4 years from now.

They're in Aspen and Sundance (seriously, the amount of money being tossed around here right now? Awesome shit! Shame the movies suck this year)... Meanwhile, wall street responds in their typical manner!

Not sure what link exists between the market and the inauguration.

I think it's fair to say the market's movement can be attributed to the bad news coming out today about the airlines and the banks, and not a swearing in ceremony. Any market reaction to Obama took place when he won and again when he named his financial team (which was the market's biggest 3 day gain EVER).

the whole thing was a bit underwhelming and anti-climatic ...
I thought it was weird how the press tried to make this into some sort of event... more so than previous inaugurations. Although, not completely surprising since in their quest to fill their 24 hour news cycle, they make a big deal out of everything. Regardless, I'll be very curious to see what changes (legislation, executive orders, etc.) he's able to affect in his first 100 days.

Well, the first one'll be closing gitmo, second will be pushing the multibillion dollar stimulus, and then after that? He'll be legislating free fried chicken fridays.

Next year around this time we'll probably start seeing the gears move in terms of his campaign promises, unless the stimulus miserably fails and we all die of starvation/food poisoning from undercooked free fried chicken.
