i noticed whenever i go to stratovarius web site people are talking about how much they hate that stupid band symphony x,and when i look here a lot of people are trashing stratovarius as a band with no talent.i have listened to music forever and i am glad both bands are around(SYMPHONYX IS THE BEST) but i know as a musican myself both bands are talented i am guessing most people who say this cant play themself.these bands along with a few others are all i listen to as far as metal .others i like are AT VANCE,DREAM THEATER,ANDROMEDA and ADAGIO.so what does everyone else think about this?

Immaturity from both parts. Ironic, since Stratovarius are a power metal band and SyX have strong power metal influences on their music.

I love strato, and it pisses me off seeing everyone bash on them all the time. So you don't like them... fine. No need to get all pissed. I like a wide variety of music like symphony x, strato, sonata arctica, opeth, iced earth, bloodbath, children of bodom, among many others, and i think almost every band has something to contribute some way or another. By the way, hammerfall kicks ass.

I love both of them. And I love Dream Theater. I can never figure out why they would have to be mutually exclusive. I've never viewed it as a competition. SX, Strato, and DT don't cancel each other out, but rather, each adds to and enhances the library of music.
I figure that on the recent tour, Symphony X and Stratovarius were helping each other out, and in a way supporting each other.

They picked the right guys to clone. And just because it is similar doesn't mean that Adagio is just ripping of SX. Forte even admitted that SX was one of his influences, of course at least some parts of the music is going to be similar.Kate Bush Rules! said:

A band called winterfell sounds almost exactly like iced earth, but they kick ass. My point??? If you find a band that sounds exactly like your favorite band, look at it as more music by symx or in the same vein... THIS IS A GOOD THING!!!!

Stratovarius isn't that bad. I bought their last cd when I went to Germany some months ago. It's a nice cd, but in my opinion, Symphony X is much better. I think I'm not the only one anyway
