Worst vocal performances in a song

Deftones have weak crooned vocals but it fits the music. When Chino screams is where its at.

Dir en Grey's middle period (Vulgar through Marrow of a Bone) is good nu metal with insanely good vocals. Fair to Midland gets lumped with nu metal but they are more alt metal/Nu-prog. A Perfect Circle if you count them as nu metal, Maynard is at his best vocally in that band.

Draiman's best vocal performance was on the albums Believe and Ten Thousand Fists. The Sickness album was fucking awful and everything after TTF was just meh at best, up until now which got WAY worse.

I can't think of a single nu-metal vocalist I like. If they're not goofy and embarrassing, they're bland, generic, or a very watered down version of what vocalists were doing in underground metal.

Excluding obvious nu metal and alt rock vocalists, the ones that do fucking nothing for me are the grind and pornogrind vocals. I can appreciate the musicianship behind certain bands, but holy fuck are their vocals monotonous and boring.

I was just staring at the screen for about 20 seconds then just burst out laughing. This is like one of those Simpsons/South Park moments when a character does sth super redundant, you're just calmly appreciating the joke at first with a smirk but they keep going and going and you finally laugh out loud.

Bands like System of a Down, Disturbed, Slipknot, Static X, Drowning Pool, nu metal and rap metal in general probably has some of the most embarrassing vocal performances of all time.
Static X had some of the most ORIGINAL vocals ever. It was both hilarious and really good. And the screams are perfect. If he wanted he could've been one of the top vocalists in a real metal band.
Also: Wayne Static himself said "we don't even really have lyrics we're just sort of "OOOO AAHH OOO OOOH BRRRRR". And if you can take off the metal geek pants for a moment, it's a very fun experience.

I love Rob Zombie as a vocalist and lyricist in White Zombie. But when they play live he's so fucking atrocious and lazy.

He said (Rob Zombie) in an intvw he always considered the whole experience, so not just the music. He thought the visuals were just as important for e.g., and that making movies and making albums was the same to him. He was prob shitttttfaced that day and half made his way through the thing to get that check, he must've thought the instrumentalists were doin a good enough job by his philosophy.

I'm sorry you dont like to have fun :p

Anyway, Chris Barnes just needs to stop as a vocalist

Ah, Chris Barnes again....
look, this guy was good during his Cannibal records, he set a novel style with his extreme, gore obsessed, deep growls and then on a couple of those good SFU albums (Maximum and True Carnage) he had some good, sometimes very good performances. But yeah I mean, you wouldn't quite think of his name in a 'greatest dm vocals' conversation. I really think at this point it's a bit tongue in cheek, he and the people around don't take it too seriously, it's just his trademark thing with his lyrics and they just let him do his thing.
It's true he's never acclaimed or considered in those conversations about the best...

Any examples? Most grind I like has dual vocals and sometimes 3 styles are performed, and much of it has more comedic vocals, but I don't listen to too much political grindcore which is really its own subgenre, and that shit bores me. If the grindcore isn't stylistically diverse or a bit mentally retarded I tend to lose interest.

Here in NZ we had this. I regret not seeing them live for a laugh:

I always thought One Minute Silence was the best of the nu/rap metal. I figure the Irish vocalist's accent would sound legit in actual hip-hop.

Just think of your typical local grindcore band featuring members in their late teens.

I also find Br00tal and Slam vocals to be fucking boring but I kind of see the appeal. Used to love that shit and still enjoy the classics, but ugh it gets so boring fast.
