Wow.. what a tour...

Never heard of any of these bands
Cool bands .. kind of a mix between growling/clean vocaled Viking/Pagan Folk metal. Turisas is often referred to as Battle Metal.

I saw both Tyr and Turisas at Wacken this past year. The crowd reaction for both was crazy. I got pushed around pretty good during the Tyr show .. I was physically beaten down by the end of the gig. I started off in the 15th row middle, and wound up 3rd row way on the left. Dark One (Jason) wound up in the first row on the far right. We were basically pushed in opposite directions. Great time though .. recommended !! Tyr is clean vocaled by the way.

Turisas had a bit too rabid of a crowd .. I couldn't get a good view of their performance. From what I could see they were getting a great response, and they had great stage presence. Turisas is a mix of clean and growls. Check out Youtube .. lots of clips of these guys there .. quite the stage getup.

May make a weekend trip out of the Montreal date since Worcester is a Sunday.
Tyr, Turisas, & Ensiferum are pretty much my top 3 bands in this genre.

just for kicks, here's how I found out about each of these bands...share your stories too
-Ensiferum was recommended me on Amazon.com, of all places. I don't know what prompted that one as I have not purchased any viking/folk metal, or similar (unless you count power metal) releases from Amazon. They share vocalists or have some such arrangement with Norther, a band I love although I don't have their newest album (their first 3 are killer Finnish metal albums).
-Turisas's album "Battle Metal" was recommended by word-of-mouth from a friend.
-Tyr was the same.
-I used to be big into the Xtian metal and Eluveitie prompted some talk in 2004 when they became the first non-Christian band to sign to Fear Dark, which had up to then signed only Christian bands (the most well-known band of their roster is Immortal Souls). I saw Ven listed on Blastbeats, a Texas-based online distro specializing in Christian metal (that's where I picked up the Theocracy album from).

I'm not real big on viking metal but I'll probably check this tour out. Going into it, Tyr is the band which mosts interests me, although I've been hearing a lot of good things about the new Turisas album. I haven't heard it myself at this time.

As much as I LOVE Ensiferum, if they don't come further south than Jaxx, I might have to miss this one...unless Jaari comes back <3

The Jaxx show is going to be AMAZING!!! (btw, sorry for the double post, hadn't seen this one).

I never though I'd see Ensiferum in US Soil, guess I dont know sh*t!
