Wow.. what a tour...

eluv are pretty bad, turisas is alright but if I miss them I wont cry myself to sleep every night, and Tyr are pretty boring :P

I guess there's simply just too much awesome for you to handle.
The only thing I do agree on is old Ensiferum is much better than current. And isn't their keys player finishing up school so won't be available?

Ugh.

For those planning on going to the Worcester date, be aware that that date is apparently the 3rd day of the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, so it appears that they're playing.

I really hope this doesn't impact Ensiferum's playing time. I'd be disappointed if the other bands got less play time, but if Ensiferum's play time is changed because of the promoters, I might just start a riot. (Not really, but I couldn't think of what else to say)

Apparently, the Hemlock, Meshuggah, and Ministry tour is also confirmed for that Sunday. So, unless Meshuggah is magically playing after Ensiferum (which assumes that the promoters don't think that Ensiferum is headlining quality), or there's another band announced for Sunday that I want to see, I'll probably leave and hunt down Petri.

And ask him when the hell he's bringing Norther over

I'm about as big of an Ensiferum fanboy as you can find...but headlining over Meshuggah? Seriously?

Haha, yeah, I don't see it either.

but, assuming that Ensiferum is headlining this tour, and Ministry is headlining the other - if they all get the time they'd be getting on the normal tour, unless the Ministry/Meshuggah thing is co-headlining, Meshuggah would be below Ensiferum by default. Unless I'm missing something in the equation.

You're missing the part of the equation that accounts for the 50 horrible bands that will also be on stage that night. Ensiferum will get a short set no matter how you slice it.

I was hoping to be able to ignore that. But, I can't.

If there's another date announced even semi-close, I'd try and go to that one over it so as to not sit through shit to see Ensiferum. But at the moment the only date I'd be able to manage is the Mass one - I can't make the trip to Canada, and none of the other shows are feasible for me.

My interest is also a little lower now that this is part of the fest. While I highly doubt Meshuggah would play before Ensiferum, it is possible they will get the same set length, which would be cool.

And Norther can't get here too soon. I'd definitely hit up a US appearance if at all possible.

Well, you should all just make a weekend trip to Montreal like myself ;P

I keep thinking how I should go to this fest but there's always only 1 or 2 bands I want to see each day and there's way too many on the list I wouldn't even want to sit through in order to hear the few I do.

I won't have a license until roughly August. So, I can't make the trip myself and know NO ONE who has a license willing to make the weekend trip to Montreal. Or I would without a second thought.

The fest is really only enjoyable if you like some heavier types of metal - Power/Folk is really in the minority most of the time. It's alot of metalcore to sit through, but the metal part of the crowd is usually pretty cool, and the metal bands they do get are fairly good most of the time. Horrible booking, though, from my experience (This year Satyricon canceled atleast two months in advance. Instead of replacing them, ending it earlier, or extending some sets, they put Dark Tranquillity on the schedule though they were no where near confirmed, and made us wait an hour between Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir to make up for time so Dimmu would start on schedule)

I've already made my decision, that if Ensiferum has to take out 30 minutes or more from their set as opposed to what they're playing on their tour, I'll leave after their set, and they'll be the last band I ever see at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, regardless of the lineup in future years.

Eh, think what you want, but I definitely disagree with you on all those parts.

All of the bands on this tour kick serious amounts of ass, imo. Will more than likely be the best tour of the year.

Does anyone know who is booking this tour? I'd like to try and get a Minnesota date, but I cannot find any info on the agency responsible for assembling it.

I think Metal Maniacs is sponsoring it, so if you look there you might be able to get some information.

Cool bands .. kind of a mix between growling/clean vocaled Viking/Pagan Folk metal. Turisas is often referred to as Battle Metal.

Would it be a bit over the top if I showed up in my Viking costume for this? :goggly:

Not heard much of those other bands, but friggan Tyr does kick some ass! Looking forward to seeing them.

DO IT. i got half a mind to borrow my friend's SCA armor and show up with it on!

From 2003 in PA during a halloween fest at an amusement park (Phall Phun Phest at Knoebels). Do need to find some fur leggings and appropriate boots, though
