WoW!!

With deadline tighter than Asian pussy (which I'm meeting) I dinged to 59 over the weekend.

Also, changed my gear TWICE - prices are ridiculously low.

Also, Uther's trinket was my first drop in the game on Saturday - 2% holy shield absorbing damage = teh cool, even though it's not worth those buyout 90g it's listed for in the local Auction House.

Does Horde have anything like Argent Dawn? Some kewl quests, but gear they want - um, I'm puzzled a lil' where to get it from.

ANyway - I'm meeting that deadline, leveling to 60 over the week and getting to the Outland by this weekend, if timing works out :)

Argent Dawn is a neutral faction, so Horde have it as well.

We hit 63 with our mains on Sunday, halfway to 64 right now. The instances are much, much better than the old ones. Short, sweet, to the point. Ran Ramparts once, Blood Furnace twice, both of the latter with my pet tanking the whole thing. Wiped twice the first run of BF on the last boss before we figure out not to listen to him ("Come closer, closer... and BURN!!"), and not to run the tank away from the main healer...

Gear is pretty sweet - still haven't gotten my cool socketed pants from Ramparts, but working on it. Currently questing away in Zangarmarsh - going to try to head back to Ramparts, but she hates desert terrain - it's too barren and depressing. I'm guessing I won't be taking her to Blades Edge, either.

We're most likely going to level to 70 and then just 2v2 arena from that point on. We're actually a tougher team than one might think - because she's full resto, she can heal through just about any damage thrown her way, while I dps the attacker down, or they're stupid enough to try to dps me down first. Not really the brightest plan, and to top it off they never seem to see her healing me. Happened with us vs. two hunters the other day in a practice match. Didn't even put their pets on her.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - cash is a lot easier to come by as well in Outlands.

At lvl 60, pre-outlands: 200g apiece. Neither of us have epic mount training.

Right now: Her: 15g, Me: 452g. Bought her epic mount training @ 540g.

We're level 63, about a quarter of the way to 64. Considering I'm selling all of the stuff I skin, and she's vendoring all the soulbound greens she doesn't use (from quests and the like), together we accumulated ~610g in 3 levels. Not too shabby. Especially considering I haven't been enchanting for money at all, and she hasn't been selling potions.

Also, for Plin - I picked up a new pet, a Ravager. Pretty cool little dudes - they can learn Gore, Bite, and Dash, making them pretty damn decent dps pets, and nice for PvP. Oh, and the pet I used in the anecdote in my last post was my old faithful tanking pet, EvilScorpy. He's originally a Death Flayer, the lvl 11 rare scorpid that had the super-fast (for a scorpid) attack speed of 1.4. Pre-pet attack speed normalization, of course. So I'm actually surprised he holds aggro so well. I just keep him on auto-growl and auto-claw, and I have 2/2 in Go For The Throat, so he's never out of focus. He'd probably be even better if I was Beast Mastery specced, but I vowed I'd never do that.

Yeah, I gona get a new pet as soon as I'm in Outlands - I'm planning to get to the Blasted Lands - nope, never been there - this week and get the BC box this weekend, if nothing interferes. Sure enough I'm about 40% through lvl 59.

Specced in Survival is teh best - so far Marksmanship has been for ranged attacks, and I often draw aggro and go melee, so Survival is the option for me. Master Tactician surfaces a few times every fight, and I'm getting expose Weakness with lvl 60 talent point.

Will check the new pet fo sho, just lemme get there :D I wanna explore Strat, but so far didn't have time/group to do it with. Once again: too bad you guys are Horde. Cuz I'll have to kill you, when I see you :D

Of course you will :D

Actually, I almost never pull aggro if I let my pet go in first - I make sure they have growl and claw on auto-cast, and with Go For the Throat, my pet gets 30 (or was it 50) focus every time I crit. My crit now is less than it was (only about 17%) because I've been focusing on attack power, but it's still decent.

My recommendation on pets in outlands is the following - check out http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/ first. The new pets are Ravagers, Spore Bats, Nether Rays, Warp Stalkers, and Dragon Hawks. Be wary of Spore Bats and Nether Rays right now, because they suck. (Read up on Caster Stat pets :( ) I'll probably grab a Warp Stalker for the novelty of having a pet that will teleport to my target, but I'll probably mostly rely on my Ravager and Scorpid for DPS/Tanking respectively.

I'll see you in the arenas or in Eye of the Storm.

I took off to the Outland last night. To get a box was a quest on it's own - it was snowing out, ew, and it was 10 blocks away.

Anyway - that's some ridiculous hack and slash, so fast and easy it's not funny.

Wondeful, fucking wonderful: I dinged 60 BEFORE I installed the expansion, so, even though I had all recent patches installed (I assume), I stopped getting XP!! Soon as I got BC on my PC - everything went as before. Pfff.

Draenei shaman I got is one sexy momma, but that accent she has painfully reminds me of a USSR section of Brighton Beach... or NE Philly, where I've never been, but can imagine what it's like anyway. So I expect her to slur some Ruskian obscenity once in a while.

Haha, I was waiting to see what you'd think of the Dranei and their accent.

Got my epic mount training finally. Still got a good 25g each too. 600+ gold for two of us in 3.5 levels isn't too bad. Just have 6.5 more to save up 1k each. Woot.

Zangarmarsh is much cooler looking that Hellfire Peninsula, I'll give it that. But it's a pain in the ass, because you're consistently running back and forth across the zone over and over. At least the rivers don't dismount you. If that were true, I'd skip the whole zone. This weekend will probably be the start of our Coilfang Resevoir instance runs. That or my brother and I will level our old characters, a 56 warrior and 58 priest. (Yeah, my fiancee and I got those characters to that point before stopping. Why we didn't just get to 60 I'll never know.)

Just did the new 10 man raid last night with my guild (karazhan in deadwind pass) and it was ridiculous! 12 bosses, took almost 4 hours and we only downed 3 of them! Very challenging, but each boss drops 2(!) epics and also random chests contain epics as well. We will be going back tonight to try and clear more of the place, but i've heard the last half is extremely hard so it should be interesting to say the least

I've heard that place is friggin awesome as far as its layout goes, though. Cool events and that kind of thing. I'm totally unfamiliar with raiding - did an AQ 20 once and part of MC (to the first boss) - so I'm not sure what you would be expecting going into it, but I'm just going off what I've heard.

Got my first socketed piece of gear yesterday as well, forgot to mention. Anyone else have an opinion on that system? It seems pretty good, as far as customization goes, but it also seems to be a bit of a hassle. I'm still up in the air about it.

~kov.

It reminds me of the old Diablo 2 days, but much more time consuming/costly of course. My guild has a jewelcrafter who is almost at 375(max) and he makes gems for a good price, so i have a few socketed items that contain rare gems. They really make a difference, especially if you can afford to put the high end ones in your gear

Yeah, I don't know anyone with a really good jewelcrafting yet, and I'm not really part of a big enough guild for those economies-of-scale to kick in. I'll probably be sticking with honor-based rocks for now. I figure I'll look a the quests and instances I'll be doing and if I'll be getting (or reasonably sure I'm getting) any upgrades pre-70. If not, I'll invest the marks/honor/whatever to socket the stuff now - if so, then I can wait.

I'm sure the system is best for hybrids and off-specs, but both my fiancee and I are pretty embedded in our specs, and plenty of good gear drops specifically for ours, so for me it'll just be the trade offs between agi/ap and crit/stam for the most part.

Plin, out of curiosity, what's your attack power and crit chance? I meant to ask after the 'nerf', but got sidetracked. I always wanted to see how survival spec held up against marks.

~kov.

I meant to ask you about your armor, actually :D

I have to check my specs - thottbott profile is out of date, and I didn't bother with anything else.

I have Master Tacticain 4/5, I think base critical is around 12-13%, but with MT it jumps to 20%. Plus I got Expose Weakness (1/3), will be pumping it up along with MT, so both Critical Hit Rate and Attack Power vary (I get MT each longer fight).

My gear is decent right now, nothing special. Pre-TBC I was about as decked out as you could get without doing any raids, or PVPing for 16 hours a day. My spec is mostly Marks - I have 6 right now in beast for Improved Hawk and 1 in the one all the way to the left... gives the 1% increase in damage. Surv I have full Hawk Eye, but nothing else. I still need to put some into Efficiency to help out my mana efficiency, but aside from that, the rest of my points are just bonuses.

My AP (w/ Trueshot Aura and Aspect of the Hawk) is ~1375, and my crit is about 16.75% if I remember correctly. I want to keep my profile updated on ctprofiles, but that's another site that got blocked over here. I'm gonna have to mess around until I can find a site that doesn't have it blocked. Or, I'll just edit this post with a list of my gear so far.

My main goals, gear wise right now, is to hit Exalted with Thrallmar. Not only will I get to learn some nice enchants, I'd get a sick polearm and bow. Not half bad, really.

Arg, yeah, I had to level my skill from 179 up to 300 when I got it. Sucks being able to use so many weapons sometimes. It's a good thing I held onto my Ice Barbed Spear for so long - at least when I get the new polearm I won't have to wait forever to use it well.

And the gear is decent - nothing spectacular for my level. There's better drops for some of the stuff in instances. There's a neckpiece I really want: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24073#M0z , but part of the problem is that we're trying to level our characters together, so I don't want to get too far ahead by running a bunch of instances without her for gear.

~kov.

Thta necklace is nothing amazing to me - I can't help but mention they have ratings with almost every new piece of gear now. Disturbing =)

2 things I want(ed) badly are

Blade of Hanna - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2801
Hurricane - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2824

Still want the blade, Hurricane is not so desirable any longer.

I'm recalling I had a better jewelry for earlier levels, but your armor is osmething else, truly. I wouldn't stand a chance against you one-on-one, i think =)

Well, of course I'm level 63 now, and the gear in outlands is ridiculous compared to stuff prior. I'll see if I can compile a list of stuff I had before the expansion, and see what you think :D

Seriously, though, Outlands is worth it. Arena fights are pretty sweet, Eye of the Storm is an interesting mash up of all the previous battleground types, the new pets are pretty damn cool, reputation plays a bigger part, and yet is easier to gain, and the instances are excellent. I can't wait to play more later :p.
