WTF is going on in London

Wearing a hood is seen as aggressive/antisocial, in the same way as covering your face is, the people that do it are well aware of why people don't like it.

And so is being a black metal headbanger. That doesn´t give the police the right to harass me.

I recognize the root social causes you’re talking about MindMunch, but that does not justify the rioters burning down shop owners property and attacking and stealing from innocent pedestrians.

I support peaceful protests were people demand changes in their society. Destroying other peoples businesses and robbing them is merely criminal activity.

I´m not supporting their actions, I´m just stating that these riots are far from being just a bunch of kids burning stuff because a gangster got killed. They tried to peacefully demand answers for 4 hours straight just to be totally ignored by the authorities. If burning a city is what it takes to the government acknowledge your existence... Again, I´m not defending their actions, but you can only push people so far, and when they explode it´s not a beautiful sight.

If you ask me, the implicit violence of the police oppression, government omission, social struggling politics and prejudice is much more severe than the violence in all these random arsoning and robbing. You treat people like animals until the point they start to behave like animals.

Some of you just say "just let the police machinegun them all and the problem is solved". What problem is solved? The only problem it will solve is the "problem" of rich people having to notice that poor people getting fucked by the government exist. For a while.

To me that whole argument falls down with the fact that this wasn't an isolated incident in London where that boy was shot. It's spread all over England to people who have NOTHING to do with the original protest.

That´s what I meant with

"If one violent act, a spark, spread that much, to that many cities, it´s because under the hood there´s too much social tension, conflicts and struggle to survival."

It reminds me of what happened in Paris a few years ago. Right now Europe is a powder barrel of social tension.

It's a cultural thing, I doubt it's percieved in the same way in Brazil.

My friend. At a train station waiting for a train. Middle of winter. Friend has his hood up to block out the cold.

Woman. With her child. Sitting opposite. Says to her child "Look there, that's what we call a hoody".

My friend responds "no love, I'm just cold."

... true story.

Stupid people are stupid, we all know that.
I don't mean all people wearing hoods, I don't think you'd deny that a lot of young guys do wear them to look like badmen?

No-one wears a hoody to look like badman. That's sloppy observation on your part.

A hoody, with the hood up over a baseball cap, long diamond encrusted chains, and gold teeth.... then I can probably see your point.

Edit: shit didn't realise the pic was so big (google images preview), its not just about the clothes, it's the body language.
I'd hope that most people could tell the difference, although I know there are many who can't and make broad sweeping judgements about situations and people.

I can't tell by the news coverage how much is hyperbole, but it looks bad there. The news is portraying it strictly as criminals and thugs doing this. Is this more of a backlash from the recent protesting or is it opportunistic rioting like they make it out.

In any case. Everyone that's in the vicinity, stay safe.

i have no idea what's being referenced
what is going on in London???
