If you are planning on voting for the democratic nominee in a desperate attempt at getting bush out of office you are just fooling yourself.

THEY ARE ALL THE SAME! The present themselves differently but they really are exactly the same.

Both parties will say what every they can to get elected and will do nothing but make the government bigger and bring us one step closer to a police state.

I really would not be the slightest bit suppressed if both parties are actually controlled by the same entity.

Ralph Nader really is no better. He is determined to become the World's mother and will also make government even bigger and more controlling.

The truth is that there is only one party that really does want to cut government control, completely end the war on drugs, end censorship, and protect privacy and that is the libertarian party. If you do not know of them please look them up.

Will they win? Probably not but you lose with them whether you realize it or not. At least you will not be giving an endorsement to the pigs.

Thank you for your time, get lost. The last person I listen to is the one telling me what party is better or worse. Personally, how I vote isn't your concern.

hey now!! reub! im gonna reregister libertarian someday...but you know, they never do win the vote so youre right there...
i dont know man....democrats are worse than republicans...

I was not trying to tell you how you must vote. I was just giving my views.

You last statement makes no sense at all. How you vote affects everyone.

What I just read is..."Things suck, so there's no point in trying to make them ANY better, because they still won't be perfect."

The Libertarian party is a joke...anarchists without the balls to be anarchists. Don't waste your vote.

Democrats won't make things ANY better.

And yes libertarians hate the government but we are not anarchists because we understand the basic needs of a military and a justice system. Everything else the government does only makes things worse. If you doubt that than study history and econ.

I have studied history and economics. You can't turn back history...globalization has come, and there's no way to cancel it without setting back technology 200 years or so. The libertarian philosohpy is nice, but it's a total pipe dream.

BWD–a serious political debate would be a waste of time here; we're just battling about generalities. This thread certainly doesn't give any real reasons to vote Libertarian.

Jamie–nooooooooooooooooooo!!!! NO!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! ENVIRONMENT! EDUCATION! CIVIL RIGHTS!! STHNDFGNABRWTJAHJAEHAEJHAJA11111!!!!1111

...we'll argue about this later.

i'm typing on a blackberry with tiny keys so bear with me...

BWD I hear you blood... I have a BA in poli sci and a minor in history so I have some ground to stand on.

if you are working class or even a upper middle class kid about to go off to college you must know that thid bush administration has perhaps been the worst sellout of the american people in the 20th-21st century. Every single move is designed to benefit the corporations andd the super wealthy.

I'd love to elaborate but this blackberry is pissing me off plus I'm drunk because I visited a friend in a psych ward today and I'm completely bummed.

I will post tomorrow the urls of some excellent blogs which are brave enough to ttry and battle the huge Bush fundraisiing machine.

Don't sleep...your freedoms are slowly being taken away from youu.

That would be me.

Thank you for giving my somewhat less informed views some credibility. That's what I've been saying...say what you will about Al Gore's censormongering, but there's no way he would have pushed for those fucking evil tax cuts...to say nothing of the environment.

Please, do.

bwd I agree nader put bush in office .

libertarianns are like communists: it is all good in theoory but doesn't take into account the fundamental part of humans which is the elemental need-greed which inspires evevery one to worrk their ass off to make more than their neighbor.

capitalism is the predominate framework of govt in the world but it needs safeguards to potect abuses.

When did I say anything bad about globalization? I only have a problem with government control, and that can be removed.

Why on earth would techonogy have to be set back?! If anything the devolopment should help people become more independent when givin the chance.

You say that libertarian philosophy is nice so you must have at least some understanding of it's very real benifits but you refuse to accept them. If it is a total pipe dream it is only because people like you believe it to be.

Wrong, if you want to see what a truly unregulated economy can do then look at Hong Kong.

It is becoming more and more regulated but the results of it's pure capitalism were truely stunning...

thanks lizard, i can always count on you to add credibility to a thread ;)
i am currently studying political economics and if it has done anything, it has only gone further to solidify my political values and the near-necessity of keynesian economics in our american situation.

Keynesian economics?! You are kidding right?

his ideas have been out of date with mainstream economists for years. If you really want to understand the market than look into Milton Friedman.

friedman has been dead since '89, are you kidding me? or did you forget the keynes-esque policies of the 90s? did you just skip that decade or something.

and rev: now you are just being stupid

You missed my point. An unregulated economy won't work in the mass global market, or rather, will only serve the needs of the richest citizens.

Global communication = global economy. It's simple when you think about it.

Libertarian philosophy would be nice if people could be counted on to do right by each other. They can't. It doesn't work.
