bwd I agree nader put bush in office .

libertarianns are like communists: it is all good in theoory but doesn't take into account the fundamental part of humans which is the elemental need-greed which inspires evevery one to worrk their ass off to make more than their neighbor.

capitalism is the predominate framework of govt in the world but it needs safeguards to potect abuses.

if you're saying nader is a libertarian, you're wrong. the libertarian party candidate in the last presidential election was harry browne. nader was with the green party. furthermore, libertarians (ayn rand, milton friedman, etc) are not like communists. they believe in the free market exclusively, and seem to take human greed into account more than anything else.

that last part you wrote ("capitalism is the predominate framework of govt in the world but it needs safeguards to potect abuses") sounds like something al gore would say.

You missed my point. An unregulated economy won't work in the mass global market, or rather, will only serve the needs of the richest citizens.

just plain wrong. Everyone gets richer under capitalism.

Global communication = global economy. It's simple when you think about it.

You compleatly misunderstood my post. I think free trade and Globablism is a GOOD thing. I only have a problem with government control.

Libertarian philosophy would be nice if people could be counted on to do right by each other. They can't. It doesn't work.

Here we go again...

The concervative and liberal beliefs that people can not be trusted to ever do right without an enlightened person such as yourself looking over their shoulder reall is quit sickening.

I like you=)

I may just stop voting, it seems everyone in politics is equally stupid.

Nobody reprsents my views anyway.

friedman has been dead since '89, are you kidding me? or did you forget the keynes-esque policies of the 90s? did you just skip that decade or something.

and rev: now you are just being stupid

Milton Friedman has been dead since '89? So does that mean that he traveled forward in time to give this interview? http://www.rightwingnews.com/interviews/friedman.php

I am talking about professional economist not political puppets.

And just for the sake of dicussion what are those views?

Being socialist minded, you're preaching to the wrong man anyway.

No, I won't explain why, just to clear that up right now.

:guh: That is just blatantly wrong.

Okay. I was just explainning why technology led to globalization, since you asked.

You're very idealistic, aren't you? People fuck each other over. It's a basic law of human nature...we're a predatory species. Government regulation of the economy keeps the power from being concentrated in the hands of the top few. The current situation is a good example of a deregulated economy, and look at how well the job market is doing. (HINT: it sucks.)

Very well,
1. No electoral college.

2. Congress needs to be replaced by something a little less faulty with more direct citizen control.

3. The supreme court is fine by me, leave them alone.

That's all for now.

I thought it would be interesting to see how people on this board thought.

…Sad…

all i have to say is this: libertarians, i don't want to hear ANY complaining about president bush. if it weren't for you, we would be talking about president gore. and you might just hand bush another victory this time. thanks...
I dont complain about Bush....i never really have...

<--- conservative

I don't hate liberals, I pity them. They're mostly misguided. They think they're all smart but they're really just using what intelligence they have to back a set of ideals, not formed with coherent, intelligable thought.

Besides, neither "party" really has the common people in their best interest. Democrats pretend they support the minorities and are representing them, but in fact, they're nothing but a bunch of rich elitist politicans manipulating them. Look how many minorities the last few Democratic presidents put in major positions of office, and compare that to what GW Bush has.

Republicans are a bit better, but they don't choose to lie about their interests. I generally vote Republican, but I'm an Independent. GW Bush isn't a very conservative Republican, and I'm sorta disgusted with him, but he sure is a hell of a lot better than Clinton, and better than Gore would have ever been.

Liberals say GW is so stupid, yet he defeated the "intellligent" Al Gore in the debates... I think that's funny as hell.

There has never been enough public support of the Liberatarian party for me to actually consider wasting my vote for one of them, sadly.

*wants to keep my guns, and my money* :loco:

Between Kerry and Bush, I'd vote Bush....eventhough I'm pretty much against everything that he says. Of course, I can't vote yet, so it doesn't matter.

Oy vey...Bush has fucking DESTROYED our economy. Unless the current job rate skyrockets by about 700%, he'll be the first president since Herbert Hoover to preside over net job losses during his term in office. And Hoover was president during THE GREAT FUCKING DEPRESSION.

That, in and of itself, would be a good enough reason not to re-elect him, but also consider the cataclysmic intelligence failures leading up to 9/11 and the squandering of worldwide goodwill afterwards, the quagmire in Iraq we've gotten ourselves stuck in as a result of said squandering, the attacks on the civil rights of US citizens, the backing out of nuclear non-proliferation treaties, and the WRETCHED environmental record.

Bad times.

Ummm... what drugs are you on? :err:

The recession was coming on strong during the last year of the Clinton Administration. Bush inherited it. THEN 9/11 happened, which was a huge shock to our economy.

Bush cut the taxes, and 2 years later, Just like when Reagan did it, Just like when JFK did it, the economy started picking up.

The last quarter was the highest rate of growth that America has seen in the last 20 years. It's not over, but thanks to Bush, it's turned around. No thanks to Clinton who wasted his last term defending himself from his first term, where all he did was chase around interns.
