I really don't see any difference between these guys and a band like Steel Panther/Metal Skool - bands who like 80's music, give it an update, inject a whole bunch of cheese and wigs/spandex (on purpose) and just go out to have fun and put a smile on people's faces.

Like a lot of others pointed out, bands doing this with a sly wink for the lulz are a lot different than Brokensydddddeeeekakkke or Attack Attack! who are doing it for the hair care product sponsorships.

To be honest, as indifferent as I am to the metalcore scene, I think The End of Heartache has more musical integrity than Slayers entire 20+ year discography.

:Smug:

Don't you think the outcome of comparing the "musical integrity" of one album to a whole, decade-spanning, discography is quite vacuous?

But besides that, sure, both of them ride a formula but only one of those bands watered down heavily to sustain and widen commercial success. And that's not Slayer...

So much for "integrity"...

Edit: It's quite the opposite with Slayer I think. While bands like Megadeth and Anthrax almost disappeared at the turn of the century, because they'd lost huge parts of their once loyal fanbase due to swarming over, Slayer (while musically shifting less heavily and staying true to their roots) remained alive and well... due to their ever-loyal fanbase.

Edit 2: Say what you want about Slayer, but their main writers (Kerry and Jeff) are as true about their music and lyrics as it gets... even though, some of it might be borderline retarded.

Steel Panther is a joke. The only thing about that bad worth a damn is Russ. They play 2 blocks from my house every Friday night. They pack in the people though so they are promoted well.

As for Russ why he decided to join the ir ranks after creating such awesome metal with Fight just blows my mind.

They are essentially a cover bands with skilled musicians as opposed to the normal drunk, cant play for shit assholes that are in most Vegas / LA bands.

What the fuck is happening in the US?
Why emos are mixed with death metal? Is that a kind of new wave of america emo metal?

Yeah, and everyone is cool about it, because you know, Death Metal is old, so why american young pleople want to hear something old?? it doesn´t matter if it kick ass, is old, emo metal is new, so listen too it.

And about End of a heartache vs al Slayer`s discography well, more than one Slayer album are considered Classics in Metal of all times, and to be honest, i always found KS to be like a clone of several bands and the result isn´t too original or fresh sounding (not talking about production), so i don know about that "integrity",Slayer, while is simple and violent, well is their sound, a sound they crafted.
