I've never heard of anyone paiting those, so I tried it.
there's a low end thump/rumble that comes from the "reso"-switch on one of the amps...disengaged it's not really good sounding and engaged it's a bit too much.

DISCLAIMER:
I do not really like this tone myself and wouldn't be using it for modern-sounding productions, but I can see it being interesting for somesludgier kind of music

I think Moonspell uses those, or use to

never tried recording with it but I always thought it sounded pretty good, I use to run a tubescreamer in front of it and it worked pretty damn good for the thrash/death band I was in like 12 years ago

I think it sounds very good even for metal, maybe you gotta tweak it a bit, but it sounds good for sure!
