Hi dudes :)

I think, it´s time to talk about the last 10 years, making a conclusion. I hope there isn´t a thread like this already (if so, kill mine).

1. This Godless Endeavor (that´s why you can call me a Sneap fanboy forever)
2. The Inner Circle (Evergrey´s Masterpiece imo)
3. Brave New World (it brought back the traditional Heavy Metal in a certain way)

I think the last 10 years were AWESOME! Also to mention records like Doomsday Machine, MUTTER, With oden on our side, In search of truth, Atrocity Exhibition, The way of all flesh, stabbing the drama.

What 3 albums do you choose for the last decade?

Propagandhi - Potemkin City Limits
Shinedown - The Sound Of Madness
Darkest Hour - Deliver Us

In no particular order.

1. In Flames - Reroute to Remain
2. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am...
3. Opeth - Blackwater Park

A lot of quality albums but these are the ones that have lasted the test of time.

Only 3 from the past decade? Madness! There were so many incredible albums released almost every year in the 00's, that I would have trouble choosing 3 per year! :p But I will try to do that - Top 3 albums of each year! And once I have everything reviewed, I will make a final Top 3 of the Decade list, as impossible as it is...

I'll first make the outline and then fill it as I progress. Once the list is done, I will add my yearly comments.

:kickass:

Devin Townsend - Accelerated Evolution
Evergrey - Recreation Day
God Is An Astronaut - The End Of The Beginning

1. Nevermore - Dead Heart In A Dead World
2. Motörhead - Inferno
3. Social Distortion - Sex, Love And Rock 'n' Roll

I though about putting some "honourable mentions" in here but that list would be way too long.

Yet I think this was one of the lamest decades in music (ever sinde the evolution of recording) that I can think of. I'm probably pretty alone with that sentiment, but to me, everything from - let's say - the 50s to the 90s had so much more to offer musically.

Decapitated - Organic Hallucinosis
Meshuggah - Obzen
Emperor - Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire and Demise

Runners up:
Mors Principium Est - The Unborn
Opeth - Blackwater Park
In Flames - Clayman
Evergrey - Recreation Day
Evergrey - In Search of Truth

yeah I don't know if I can really cover it in only 3 but right off the top of my head (and I know I'm forgetting a few):

1. Muse - Absolution
2. Angra - Temple of Shadows
3. Devin Townsend - Terria

honorable mention:

1. Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side
2. Opeth - Damnation or Blackwater Park
3. Muse - Origin of Symmetry
4. Exodus - Tempo of The Damned

one more after it kicked me in the head for forgetting:

Machine Head - The Blackening

Since I'm only allowed three, I'm sure I won't be agreeing with myself in a week or so, but here goes:

In Flames - Clayman (2000)
This is probably my most listened album ever. I have often realized, while driving back to my home town from where I live now, that I have listened the album through four times in a row without even noticing it. Excellent production, excellent songs, nothing I'd want to change. I think I was fifteen or so when I first heard Clayman and I'm still not getting tired of it.

Devin Townsend - Terria (2001)
I had never quite understood all the hype and worship that seemed to circle around this Townsend person until I heard this album for the first time. I'm not all that keen on the production - to be honest, I don't think I've ever even paid attention to it - but the songwriting on this album is pure genius. I remember when I was underage and we were out drinking with my older friends, I never even bothered to try and get in the pub with them. Instead I put a pair of headphones on, turned the lights off, blasted Terria and drank beer by myself until I fell asleep or everyone else came back. Good times! :D

Clutch - Blast Tyrant (2004)
A real eye-opener for me, and an excellent introduction to the world of stoner rock. Grooves like a fifteen-feet moose on bud, yet sounds super tight and massive at the same time. I feel this album is a perfect combination of dirty, natural vibe and polished rock production. I also have to give extra credit to the drummer and the vocalist.

Clutch are AWESOME. They have the groove down to a science and have a ton of awesome releases. I saw them live last year and they played a long ass set. Their drummer had a solo too and absolutely ripped! I wouldn't quite call them stoner rock though.

Well, they are a bit hard to define, considering the huge variety in their catalog, but that's what I most often see them titled as, and that was the album that initially got me into to genre in the first place, so I went with that :)

I'm still kinda bummed I missed my chance to see them live a couple of months ago. I really wanted to, but the trip would've cost me around a hundred euros and I was completely broke :|

Iron Maiden ---> Brave new world ---> I think that this album is the return of Maiden, it's epic, kind of progressive and yet is Maiden, pretty cool

Nevermore --> This godless endeavor --> aggressive progressive dramatic metal ahahah, killer guitar playing, killer vocals. great album.

Testament ---> Formation of damnation --> the return of my guitar hero Skolnick in a more "actual - heavy" Testament context, cool.

Yeah, this is true. Usually when I think stoner rock Matamps, Oranges, and droned out Sabbath riffs come to mind, haha...but whatever, fuck genre naming.

If you get another chance be sure to see em!
