You sure lol pretty often.

Yeah he tries to 'sing' some parts now. But I sure hope he doesn't follow Anders too much.. that guys sounds like he's washing his throat with Listerine now. i.e : Metaphor.

Others think the new songs are pure shit, others think they fucking rock the world..

That's what happens when you compose songs without trying to please everyone but just do what you really wanna do.

Obviously they took a totally new approach with this album... One approach that fails to make them (90%.. 10% is still there) still COB to me. That is, Janne's keyboards, now using a small seemingly limited amount of synth leads than in the past, really is the only element that bonds the new stuff with their past, in my opinion. That and the fact that it seems that many of their solos, ranging from a mere 8 seconds, to one triple solo by Roope, janne, and then Alexi, take so many elements from their older stuff.. I'm sorry for not remembering the names of the songs because I was too dissapointed to truly grasp what I was hearing, but for all of you who should know, that song with the longest set of solos that I just mentioned, (Roope, then janne, then Alexi) has elements from so much of their older shit, Roope from Sinergy, Janne's is new, but alexi takes parts from Bodom after Midnight and Bodom Beach Terror and throws it together with speed to make it sound supposedly new and exciting... Hmm... When I noticed things like this throughout all the new songs I've heard like, In Your Face, Are you Dead Yet, If you Want peace than prepare for War, Living Dead Beat, Oops I did it Again (funny..), and Bastards of Bodom.. The only songs I like that they've recently written (asides from sinppits of the aforementioned songs were Trashed Lost and Strungout and a shitty recording of Knuckleduster.. And does anyone realize that almost every solo in the new songs start like it did when Roope's starts in Knuckleduster? *sighs* I've even hear small metalcore riffs scattered throughout the song, and breakdownish riffs that.. Play during most of the solos! There are some awesome shreds going down but I can hardly hear them due to Roope playing some heavy fast chord progression.. The old melody/solo-driven ways of the old band has been replaced with supposedly catchy Hard metalcore riffs interlaced with a few melodic bits... The days of Alexander playing simple chord patterns along to a standout amazing solo seem to be dead... And Alexi's vocals.. People keep saying their better, but it seems I can hardly make them out over guitars and drums.. It's all so blended together it seems like just noise.. Where are the standout catchy, if not neccessarily good lyrics like in hate me!, Towards Dead End, Every Time I Die, You're Better off Dead, etc..

*sighs* I honestly truly hope that Alexi is just doing thsi to expand their influence into America, then allowing them to seize control over America's youth, and then slip naturally back into their somewhat older style which will be eaten up regardless in Amerca due to our dull witted fans. That'd be awesome.. Totally possible too. This grabs their attention, and once fans start listening to FTR, HB, Hate Crew, etc, then they will, being the now tr00 fans that they are, will start loving all of it.. Not to mention that so many elements of the new solos are strewn throughout old songs.. except this time they will get about a 45 second solo duel.. More is better in America. So yea.....

I know, huge rant, don't bother to read it haha.. Just needed to throw an opinion out there. I still love the band, I'm not a hater.. And actualyl I can't wait to see them headline shows for once. I saw them headline in Farmingdale, NY last time around and seeing them play Deadnight and KTS was fucking kick ass... So yea.. Aside from all the new shitty 13-16 year old fans (which should be easily knocked out of the way), everything should be good.. I hope..

I didn't read all of that but personally I think the best solos on the album are on the three songs that haven't leaked so far. Hold your horses. And also, give it more than just a few listens, dude. It's not the easiest COB album.

That is definitely true.. I just felt the need to get that out there because that's what I felt listening to them a few times each. I have another friend who actually really dislikes them alot, and he's playing them non stop trying to drill them into his head.. i'll be making the same ffort it's just a shame that it wouldn't be exactly like I expected..

Hmm... Isn't it odd how the songs that were leaked sound NOTHING like Trashed Lost and Strungout.. While people even hated that, I thought it was great, done in a new but still very true Bodom style.. And all this stff.. I don't know where it came from or what happened...

I just hope Sinergy never changes their style.. :-D Or maybe it got pushed back because Alexi was going to rewrite the C............. *gulp* Nevermind.

I really like what I've heard but.... Each album seemed to have attitude to it. Every song on the other albums had so much life and seemed so full... These songs... They feel empty. I think I need a CD case and cover to look at when I listen to the songs in September.

I cannot feel the life of AYDY? like I could in SW, HB, FtR, HCDR. Help!

I have to agree with you. I like those new songs BUT...

What made COB a totally different, incredible band for me... well I can't feel it on these new songs like I did before. Sorry, now they sound like another great heavy metal band. But nothing else.

Hatebreeder had this rich, mysterious feeling to it... when you listened to it, you knew something amazing was going on. Something no other band could even attempt reaching.

I'm listening to In Your Face right now, and it kicks ass. It really does. It's my fav of the batch. So I'm not flaming the new songs or anything. And I fucking respect their new creative orientation. I really do.

But AYDY was fucking disappointing to me, sorry. It really does sound too mainstream. I'm not saying it's NU-shit, but it brings nothing new to the table. I think, as someone else said, that this is done on purpose so it'll "convert" the american crowd. I sure hope that this is what's going on.

So older Bodom is better. I've never said that before, but that's my opinion and FUCK YOU if you are thinking of flaming me for what I think. I don't know what's been going on around here but there seems to be a lot of assholes around the forum that just bitch at everyone for nothing and act like they own the place or represent the "everlasting voice of wisdom". My message to them: go bitch at your fucking mom.

Overally, I'm pretty dissappointed. Off course there are some good moments, like the melody of "Bastards of Bodom" but this is so..... average :erk: I mean, it's not totally awesome, but it doesn't suck too. And it's not that I think this is "nu-crap" or whatever. Well, if I want good melodic metal, I'll listen to old Bodom, and if I want good modern thrash, I'll listen to Stam1na.

okay, I know what did ya mean;)
and Downfall doesnt suck. Not the best, but a great song..
And for the previous question I can't answer to cause I don't have the album
