As you may notice I generally prefer BM-style screeching and screaming over growling and pig squeals. Interesting that many of you included Dani Filth in your lists. If you want to keep this fantasy alive do not ever see CoF in concert, as he cannot reproduce his recorded vocals in person.

Some of the best harsh vocalists are the ones that switch it up a lot, and sorta change their general tone of screaming. Guys like Mikael Bayusik and Daniel Corchado don't just stick with one monotonous growl the entire song, they're all over the places with screeches, deeper growls, "grim" throaty screams, half-clean shouts, and even falsettos. Just because its a growl doesn't mean it can't have the same variety as melodic cleans.

I am cool with most vocals but Silencer-esque wailing and metalcore/Cro-Magnon brocore pig squeals (Despised Icon is TERRIBLY guilty of those) are awful.

I generally can't stand pig squeals, but I like how Katalepsy uses them; it doesn't sound like the only thing he's saying is "BRRRREEEEEE!!!!".
