Nope, The Beatles were nothing special, and did little to nothing for music aside from inspire a bunch of kids to go play instruments and form bands. Which I admit is good and all, but the music the band put out was quite bad.

the Beatles were THE FIRST (PERIOD) popular band EVER to play all their own music, write all their own songs, not use any sort of "backing band", and still manage to maintain their artistic integrity to the end of their career. Sgt Pepper and Revolver are better than 99% of what's been released since, and musically were a decade ahead of their time.

they were also probably the first major music act to come out in support of drug use and world culture, which was significant.
