"
Orphaned Land's new, sophisticated concept album takes their unique brand of exotic, heavy music to soaring new heights in terms of complexity and catchiness. The album itself is musically and lyrically divided into three parts providing a structure that is essential to fully understand the highly elaborate story of "The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR". This is the limited edition mediabook including a bonus DVD featuring the band documentary, ''A Heaven You May Create'' and the bonus track, ''Estarabim''."

It picks up where they left us five years ago with Mabool and add even more of the middle-eastern folklore this time around. It might not be as progressive as its predecessor, or have as much death metal elements in it, but it has some fantastic acoustic passages, some new gothic rock elements, and just flows in a way only these guys can make an album flow. Theres no doubt in my mind that Ill be spinning this more than any other 2010 album." (another metal publisher, Claus/Intromental)
Reads like an intelligent review for an intelligent concept-album (dumb concept-albums bite). Whatever "progressive" and "death metal elements" really means, there's plenty of dissent in the ranks of discerning listeners. Great! So this album, according to the review, picks up where Mabool left off, but sheds some of the more "mainstream" metal trappings (death, probably growls and such) and "progressive" whatever the heck that truly means.
The key thing, and the writer gets that, is that the band's PROGRESSED to incorporating more Middle Eastern "folklore," and we all know what that means: More of the textual, poetic, and musical elements from the Orphaned Region that make Orphaned Land so unique and interesting to those of us who crave and appreciate the beauty of the ancient scales, instruments and forms of music that originated in the, heheh, non-West (hate the term "Orient;" so vague; misleading).
Absolute kicker? The fine metal reviewer, 'cause s/he digs OL, says that the music "...just flows in a way only these guys can make an album flow. Theres no doubt in my mind that Ill be spinning this more than any other 2010 album." Dig that?! Can you dig that?! We knew this all along, about the "flow" of OL's music, but I bet the compositions are even more seamless, when taken as a whole...if one can imagine such a thing. And our reviewer (our friend, now!) has no doubt that s/he'll be playing this 'un more than any other 2010 album, and it ain't even New Year's Day!
Now what kind of total confidence in the supremacy of ORwarriOR does it take to make such a bold assertion as the above? That's right.
This is great. And if any idiot dares to write something critical about the album, un-Hallowed be Her/His/Its name: Burn.
Oops, that was an non-peaceful statement. Oh well. Nobody's perfect. See, saying gnarly thangs Re this album...that would be pure sacrilege. Because the verdict is out--the album's like no other in its awesome, massive, stunning, intoxicating, shocking greatness. No more speculations needed: I'm so proud of Orphaned Land, and I'm so proud of us fans for believing in a band that doesn't give a f### about how the
money-making 'tard bands, uh, don't think...not any neurons left in lots of the skulls out there, I'm afraid. Here we have a band that does so much more than grunt, screech, or oink (all good, sometimes) about Satan and various demons (like, the shock-value's over), accompanied with wank-fests of guitar-shredding. Nah,
this is where it's at. Want religion--something to believe in--but hate organized religion; say you've been burned by it before (oh heck yeah)? Maybe we can invent one, roughly predicated on the (duh) pursuit (vs. talk talk talk) of peace, no matter how long and strong the grievances are, after we study (dude reviewer says the concept's not simple) ORwarriOR like obedient Disciples. Then, we can practice ORwarriOR. Start writing the
theology books.
Out with the old, in with the new.
Dazed and unConfused,
Happy Happy Joy Joy!
