As far as I'm aware of, there is no local metal scene in NJ. However, I will always take pride in the fact that Overkill are from here which is pretty cool.

Dude Jersey's got some great shit coming out of it. Dethroned Emperor(http://dethronedemperor.bandcamp.com/)are an awesome death/grind band.

Sacrificial Blood (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sacrificial-Blood/106953582665049) play a great blend of death and heavy metal

If power/speed metal is your thing then definitely give Attacker (http://www.attacker.tv/ a listen.

Some bands I've heard of but never heard include Midnight Hellion and Death Sick. Also, if you're from South Jersey then maybe you can get away with including Coffin Dust (http://coffindust.bandcamp.com/) and some other Philly bands.
