Your Opinion: TOP 3 Best Produced Albums Ever...

In no particular order:
Nevermore- TGE/ Testament- The Gathering: My favourite work by Andy, and some very *fitting*, huge sounds on both of those albums.
Nile- Annihilation of the Wicked: Fucking brutal! I wasn't a fan untill I hear this album, and I love it based more on the production than the songs, though there are a few jems in there.
Evergrey- In Search of Truth: While the guitar tone on Recreation day was one of the best around, I love the vibe on this album. It was the first which featured Henrik on guitars and Sven on keys, and their addition to the songs was captured extremely well by Andy (LaRoque). The guitars and bass worked very well together, and the keys and vocals were full of awsomeness. Probably my favourite album for the last 5 years.

Honourable mentions:
Nightrage- Sweet vengance
Death- Symbolic
Dark Tranquillity- Damage Done
Kreator- Violent Revolution
Metallica- s/t

Daniel

Muse - Origin of Symmetry ( all those different espects, would be a miracle producer to get that all together )

Machine Head - Through the Ashes of Empires ( that whole mix, heavy as fucking fuck, and fuckingheavy HEAVY good WHOW)

The Haunted - Revolver..just slams to m face

Machine Head : Burn My Eyes (although I'm not too fond of the cymbals, a bit too thin).

Tool : Lateralus

Cult of Luna : Salvation (The tone on Leave Me Here is just so crushing).

couldnt give a personal top 3 but some faves off the top of my head are:

Machine Head - Burn my eyes (greatest ever recorded drum sound!)

carcass - heartwork (greatest ever recorded guitar tone!)

sevendust - animosity (huge sound! everything is big, loud and in you face but still very clear, intro to follow is one of my fave drum tones ever)

Dream evil - dragonslayer (the perfect nordstrom traditional heavy metal sound, crunching guitars, big heavy bottom ended bass)

mana - Cuando Los Angeles Lloran (latin pop rock band, great drum and guitar tones)

also stuff like far beyond driven, dead heart in a dead world, something wicked.... etc sound amazing.

sepultura - roots (it's great because the way it was recorded... fucking big fat drum and bass tone!)

machine head - TTAOE (The whole mix is great - the album is pure genious)
machine head - burning red is very good too

nevermore - dead heart (best guitar tone i've heard, i wish get that tone one day)

Isis - Panopticon
Converge - Jane Doe en You Fail Me
Dimmu Borgir - Death Cult Armageddon

Non met0l prolly:

Massive Attack - 100th Window (s?)
Portishead - Dummy.
and there was another one... but i forgot.

This is an impossible choice. I'll pick three really good ones, but there are so many awesome productions out there....

Deftones - Around The Fur
Napalm Death - Inside The Torn Apart
Meshuggah - Destroy, Erase, Improve

Not being a bitch but I feel alot of people are talking about the mix - very few albums these days appear to have a strong production element. I really dig the ways in which some engineers today are getting killer sounds just from one mic - althought this does not seem to translate to drums.

In terms of production

Dark side of the moon - the inventiveness and soundscape created is still unsurpassed today - produced by pink floyd and Alan Parsons I believe.

Touch me there - L shaktar - produced by Frank Zappa - wow - some of the tracks are a bit weird but the orchestration and places it goes are very very cool.

Metal wise - I dont hear alot of creativity in the songs - I do think some of Slayers early stuff was very ballsy for the time and some of Tools earlier stuff has depth. Faith no more angel dust - a sepatrure from normality which is always a good thing.

MIX wise - most things by andy wallace - andy sneap, colin richardson. Though not all. I think mastering ethics has done alot of damge to the lopngevity of an album to my weak and feeble mind.

hmmm....you guys are right. Trying to pick just three sucks. Anyway, after all of the stuff I've seen on here, it looks like I have a lot of listening to do. Sweet! So I guess I'll reply to my own thread even though most of them have been taken already.

1. Beatles - Sgt Pepper's (revolutionary)
2. Pink Floyd - The Wall (Simply amazing even today)
3. Evanescence Fallen (Her voice is unbelievable)

Agreed. Anyone that can get that whiny talentless heifer to stay in key is a great producer.

I enjoy listening to the CD but Amy can NOT do that shit live.
