Well the guy from marduk is pretty much in control of abruptum now. So I guess one member still makes a band (thinking of crimson II heh heh) How dare anyone other than It even think of touching Abruptum. This is one of the most disgusting things i've ever heard. As if i needed more...

I'd love to see Crimson I and II performed live....

I'd add: Bach's Air in G Mozart's Requiem Barber's Adagio for Strings Berlioz' Requiem and la Symphonie Fantastique not sure if that fits your description of transcendant but hope it helps

Cathedral are one of my favourite bands of all time, Lee Dorian is one of the greatest metal vocalists ever! I'd recommend all of their releases except for their latest which doesn't do much for me.

the main problem with Opeth is that they reached their peak 5 years ago and since then have just been going through the motions

Empyrium's Weiland and Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays Opeth (duh!) even if they reached their peak 5 years ago and have yet to reach it again.

Goat Horn are my favourite local band at the moment, they're a bright light in the benighted darkness of mediocrity that is the Toronto metal 'scene' :rock:

I finally saw the Last Samurai. It was a really good movie but I hated the ending, I mean Tom Cruise should've killed himself like a true samurai (wasn't that the point of the movie?the transformation of an alienated man into a man who becomes a samurai? the whole point of the movie is wasted)...

It is, one of the wierdest pieces in my considerable collection. If you loved PTM or Mr. Bungle you can definately appreciate Karaboudjan. And as a kid i grew up on the Tintin comics so I just love that someone recorded an album inspired by it.
